1. Submit to all the major Search Engines and the major directories

2. Bookmark your site to all the major Social Networks (Facebook Twitter etc)

3. Join Link Exchanges.

4. Exchange Links with other similar sites.

5. Get backlinks from ANY site.

6. Make sure u have good original quality content on ur site, so that visitors will wanna keep coming back.

7. Join popular forums on the internet and plug your site whenever possible. Also add a link to ur site in the signature.

8. Join a webmaster forums and meet other like minded webmasters willing to critique ur site, help with link building etc.

9. Run a competition on ur site or offer a free service.

10. Join popular chat sites and actively promote ur site.

 

I am sure these tips will not work for getting traffic.

Social book marking and link exchange may help to get traffic.

 

What about giving the visitors what they looked for so they will be pleased ( low bounce rate ) and will read the info on the site ( good alexa rank ) and share it with friends ( FB traffic ) and submit it on they sources ( links ) ?

This is the strategy we took on Kentucky Derby with current client and results are great. Try to be as clean, Google will love you.

3 & 4 are pretty much the same. But nonetheless it is a good list, if you do it properly. When I say that, you need to put in the time and effort to get free traffic by following this list. It will also take time building your traffic, so patience and hard work is key.

 

Thanks for the helpful information on getting traffic, I also think so as there is too much competition in SEO so we should also look for other ways from there we can get real visitors to our sites. Then it would be good for Making Money Online with any website!

 

Why U are always thinkin of Google? Do your website for PEOPLE, not for G. U realy need a low bounce rate. Coz even U are on first page and people didnt come back, soon U will lose!

 

Yeah I would have to agreed that this is a pretty generic list for traffic building. PPC is not cheap but its surely the quickest way to build traffic. Once they get there and find excellent content they are guaranteed to come back for updates. That is my quickest solution. But you are always welcome to use facebook fan pages, a twitter account, forum marketing, social bookmaking with digg and stumble upon, google and yahoo groups posting, and youtube videos to promote your site.

I think it is important to have good content not only for humans but also for search engine spiders. The reason is that good content for spiders will result in your website being indexed on the keywords you want and this, in turn will result in your site getting quality traffic.

What about pay per click like yahoo, adwords, facebook etc. that gets traffic to your site and it's targeted. Also, optin email can also work very well also

 

Once you have a visitor - try to turn him into a repeat/regular visitor. There is a number of ways to do that. Here are a few:
- Make sure you have a FB/Twitter/Youtube link on your site - and that it's well saturated.
