Hello fellow dpers its me again :) I'm here to announce that my directory (Surfin Directory) http://www.surfin.com which has been a paid directory will now offer regular links without recips for free for all dpers or whomever else happens to find out about it for the next 7 days. Meaning that on 10-27-2006 The price will be going back up to 5.95 a year for a regular listing. We have also dropped featured listings from 14.95 to 9.95 for the next 7 days. Same as before one 10-27-2006 hits the price of our featured links will be going back up to 14.95. Thanks for all the support you guys have given me and this is just a way to show my appreciation to dp members for your help! Later On!

So what exactly happened to optikpoint.com as it had been a featured listing for quite some time.

Why did you delete it altogether?

The form I am seeing does not have a featured listing option...

Let me know if you disable image validation.

Also, the minimum title and description text settings are a bit prohibitive. I would suggest 150 min for description and maybe 15 for the title.

I agree with mystikmedia - but I'd shorten the minimum title length to around 10 characters. Some site titles are quite short.

Okay, I will shorten the title and thanks for the suggestions. I feel that 200 isn't too big for a description. So I'm not going to change that I don't think....The 200 minimum is only in effect while we are offering these reduced prices for the next week..as we don't want to receive a bunch of spam :)

Anon, I'm not quite sure to be honest...I run the validate links every one in a while maybe your site was down at the time I ran it??? Really not sure, but I will check in to it asap. Also are you sure you submitted to surfin directory and not my other one mystickcal cause I know your in mystickcal. As soon as I find anything out I will PM you personally. Thanks for bringing it to my attention.

I'm not turning off image verification whomever asked that. sorry :)

Hope I ddin't skip anything :) If I did please let me know :)

The problem with using a 200 character minimum for the description is this:

Most directories have a MAXIMUM character limit of 200 for the description. So, the descriptions everyone has setup to use are less than 200 characters. This makes it a big inconvenience for people to submit multiple listings to your directory. Something you might want to think about. I won't be submitting anymore anyway because of the image validation, but I think that one is important to almost everyone. Good luck.

Hmm I did not know that nor did I ever run into this problem and my description is about 250 chars and I've submitted to a least a thousand directories... Anyone else agree with this and see this? Do you think 200 is too much to require for a description?

Actually i should agree with mystickal.

Content in the directory increases and the site seems to be get listed within a lot of content.
So 200 - 250 characters is a good decent number for the description.

I'm 100% positive it was surfin directory.

Also, when it's a featured listing, and even if the site is down, a featured listing does not require a reciprocol, so It shouldn't be de-activated.

You're really batting 1.000 with me these days. Especially with what you did when I allowed you to enter directorydump's back end.

I won't go into it here, but yea, I'm still pissed off because you have no respect and you're sneaky and corruptive.

Maybe it's not as much like that anymore. I remember it used to be. That's why I setup all the descriptions with 200 character descriptions. In any case, not an issue if fine for others.

Hey anon, yes thats fine that you don't trust me and I completely understand that you feel that way and hold nothing against you. Also what I meant is that when I do the validation I also have it deactivate links if they are down...like if it trys to see if the site is active and its not for whatever reason (server being down) I don't just check for recips.

I have sent you a PM regarding the issue. I'm willing to work with you 100% in this matter but I'm just not seeing it in the directory nor that it ever was in the directory. Please respond via PM when you can and I will get this fixed. If this is a mistake of mine or a misunderstanding I do apolize and will fix it immediately.
