Contest Logo Contest - $20 to winner by PayPal. 48 hrs.

Hi,
I would like to put up a logo contest here.

The logo is for the following site and a bit professional looking if possible.

See the current logo of the theme? CHRONICLE?I like that actually, and a font similar or better would be good.

The current image is in the size 243(width) x 51(height) pixels. A similar format will be good.

When using the words in the logo, use L and W capital letters if possible. If your design looks good otherwise, then feel free to try something like that.

The site is supposed to be a news site and hence mad/funk style logos are not expected. A professional one is what i'd like to stress here.

Show some variations to your submission if possible. Maybe some image additions if possible. Let your imagination guide you.

And, the buyer (ME) will retain all rights to the work is selected as winner and paid for. I hope that is expected, right? Also, make the logo in PSD and vector or scalable format so that it is useful for future editing and all. Save the layers as separate. Do not merge it. Send the final product when you receive the payment as layered PSD or whatever format i can use. Also, attach any fonts that you used with the file.

I'm not exactly sure how simplistic you want the logo to be, but when I think of a news site, I think of something like CNN. If you have a more detailed vision as what you want your logo to look like, please share.

I like the first one among the two you showed, but i am not sure it should be sharp like that, the font i mean.

@khnfrhn,
I like your idea, and the presentation, but would like both the word to be on the same line if possible. Also the font could be better. - Just added this line.

@d1revolver,
The font looks okay, but the idea looks a bit less okay for a professional site.

@mikosan,
I like the third one best. Especially the image/icon before the words, it looks good, especially how the L complements the W. But the wording lacks something.

Even though this is to be a professional site, i am trying to appeal the social network and media, so i want the logo to be pleasant on the eye, and that's why i think sharp fonts are not good for this. I could be wrong on this, of course.
See, CNN's logo, it has professionalism and pleasantness in it. I know that for $20, i am not going to get something as researched and developed like that, but i have seen sometimes in the course of the contests like this, some participants get that killer idea....
I like somethings from all of your entries, try to merge the GOOD and bring up some designs.

I'll extend the contest if you guys want more time, and if i am happy, i'll raise the stakes/rewards too. Hit me with more entries. Please do ask any question.

The logo is simple, good and professional. I'd love something like that. Even though that font is sharp, it is cool on the eyes.
It is memorable and neat with or without color....

Yes my man, i am getting some good one there. The leaking depiction couldn't be better. Can you edit that into something that has some L and/or W in it? Like wordmark logos...?

See what i mean? Logos that has components that refer in meaning to the words....
S_Tan has hit the closest to what i was looking for. But the best one would integrate that idea into the formating of the words...

Yes, you are nearing my needs... Can you make that drops differently? It looks like a hen now.
Something dripping down might look better.

Yes man, you are near it. I like it. The dripping red blob could be a little lower from the globe so that it looks separate but in slight contact....
Also, can you show a variation with another piece of the globe, below the words...? i.e the mirror of that piece below the word so that the word looks as if it was placed over a full globe?

Excellent entries coming up.... Good. Keep em coming. Need to see some more variations before i pick one. I'll extend the contest for some more time.
