My first wordpress theme, what do you think?

Nice not a best

 

The color theme for the layout is nice but the alignment of the text and other should be changed

Looks much better. I'd say get rid of the green headings. Change it to something dark. Would look better. And yeah css3 borders will work fine for very few users who have updated browsers.

it looks batter with white background then black one
you should add widget for advertisement

hi i like the progress you've made thus far but I'll make a few suggestions that might help you take it a bit further. The theme structure over all seems to be a good foundation but it's lacking in impact. You should use some graphical design elements to improve the stylings, I didn't see that you had indicated that your intent was a css only design so I'm assuming the addition of graphical elements isn't prohibited by default. Try using a graphical logo and maybe doing something more exciting with the nav bar. Also I would use more padding on your containers it seems to be a bit squished. You could use sifr or some other form of flash replacement for your high visibility text to improve on the styling. I'd also make the footer length match the nav bar length for symmetry. Over all though it's a great first attempt, keep up the good work!

Yes, you're right there aren't much graphical design elements; only the header background and the read the rest/submit comment button (using slicing door technique). I was trying to make some nice tabbed navigation bar but don't have the skills for it yet, but indeed the nav bar looks boring and ugly

Would Cufon be okay for the heading styles too?

My appreciation for your maiden attempt in Wordpress. the color combination is the first point to concentrate. Black, blue, yellow all these colors do not complement each other. The title bar and sidebar are slightly small in width. You can increase the width for a prominent look.

Anyway; did some modification to the header. Added a background for it, and active items now have white color and some text shadow. Still need to do the logo and stuff
