I've been racking my brain for years now on how to properly monetize my best site - http://www.MustangTraderOnline.com. It is a classifieds ads site for Mustang For Sale.

I've tried Adsense, Yahoo (when it was alive), Chitika, CJ products, Amazon products, Clickbank products, even a CPA offer from Vente. But for a site that gets over 10000 page visits per day I think I should be making more than about $1200 per month with these systems.

I've played with placement of ads, hover ads, exit ads, etc..

I'd even be willing to pay an expert to advise me on what to do.

    Thanks for you time.

You have a nice website there, and it's really valuable asset.

Well, if I were you, I'd remove ALL third party advertising and start charging your clients for featured ads. Furthermore, you could build an email list and periodically promote various premium products and services to your audience. As a general suggestion, take a look at other similar sites to get an idea on what they are doing. Good luck! :)

thanks for the reply.. we are already charging for featured ads and for other options on ads also.. the site does well with listing fees.. it's the other stuff that i think we're missing out on.. yes we do have a mailing list but finding products to pitch to people who are looking to buy a car is the tough part that i can't seem to find the right answer for..

other mustang sites do NOTHING to monetize their sites so i can't use anything from them..

I would learn from other classified sites, not necessarily related to Mustang or cars in general. However, there is not much you can do here except paid listings.

I guess a lot of people are coming to your site and just leaving it without clicking any links. You're losing traffic and money. You could try to catch those visitors and present them a special offer of some kind.
