Importance of Directories in SEO

You should aware about directories. Directory submission is very useful for seo point of view. you can get huge traffic and its also useful for improving ranking on keywords in search engine result page.

All is true. But it applies only to quality web directories. Traffic will be mostly not direct from directories, but from Google after backlinks are indexed in these directories.

From my expirience I say - I was able to get Top Google for websites by a very popular keywords using only web directories (free and paid).

does anyone know....on what depends the acceptance in directories, after some time in listing i can't figure that out....some good (with high PR) directories accpeting my link, the less value ones are not accepting....and in a long run (as they say that it may take up to 8 weeks or so) those links don't appear. So i guess those directories are not live (just on autopilot), or admins don't do their work...share the word thanks

 

In current scenario i dont see any fruitful output from web directories as it used to be in some time. Because the exposure of these days web directories only available @ homepage so having links submitted in inner pages dont impress the website link availability for search engines! all you can get is a backlink

 

What about some of these directories that have the high PR (4-6), but yet there are very few links and the domain appears to have just been purchased. Is it worth my time to submit to these?

Indeed it is a part of the search engine optimizations, but i don't understand where the traffic comes from, because me, as a user, not as a webmaster i use a search engine for finding different things.

 

From the nature of web directories, most of their content is duplicate, and as such they are not really good media for SEO.
I used to submit my websites to web directories and receiving 0 visitors from them. Not worth at all.

I'm running web directory by myself, so don't get me wrong that I'm against them.

And how they can make sure that submitted websites will not be submitted to other dirs later, or already submitted, but not indexed yet. Simply no way and most of web dirs content is duplicate. And directories which make hard time (too constraints) remain almost empty.

 

it's absolutely a fake PR, checked whois, domain creation Date: 17-jan-2011.
the PR is just redirect from another high PR site.
actually i knew many web directories owners including the members here create fake directories to scam people.
sure i won't mention them here.
