Hey So does anyone have any tips for a newbie concerning link development?... and would anyone like to share where the majority of their traffic comes from? I have been running a website with my wife for about six months now and I think if I understand it correctly that the more links your site has on forums/article directories and websites the higher the page rank in search engines? The business we are in is very competitive so the chance of us ever ranking high in a search engine without employing an SEO expert is very minimal... so I am wondering where the best place to find traffic is from people's experiences? I have tried Ezine articles - my articles have had lots of views but the views do not translate into clicks to my website, and the few that have have not resulted in sales. Blog commenting (not spam commenting) has had one buyer through my website and for me forums have been the best bit of traffic although still relatively low. When I do receive a buyer or client through the website they do continue to come back so I think it is a case of how to effectively use links to market the site. Anyone care to give a newbie some tips and suggestions? Thanks Wes
Well, to get the traffic for a long run, I would suggest you to do proper submission of social bookmarking. The sites which are listed in the addthis widget are important, you can start submitting your articles on those networking sites. Make sure you add atleast 10 friends everyday in all the networking sites you submit, so at the end of a month you will have quite a few number of people as friends. These friends who can anytime divert to your site/blog by just sending a mail or some viral message. Also do cross bookmarking in these networking sites, where you should digg, stumble, vote or comment for your friend's submissions, so you get the same in return. For a quicker way of traffic, I would recommend you to be a regular commentator on forums like DP and WF. Here you can get traffic as well build your backlinks for the site. Second quick way would be Facebook, create a fan page on facebook and recommend all your networking friends to your fan page. Try doing some viral marketing techniques on your fan page like posting an attractive image with some catchy title and then sharing and tagging it with your friends. This way you post will be displayed on their profile page walls as well as their homepages and you get more eyeballs for your fan page which will be eventually diverted to your site Hope that helps !
Hi China Girl Thank you so much for your detailed reply. I will definitely attempt what you suggest. Are there any specific networking sites for writers, or do general sites work just as well? I have had two people mention the WF forum today to me so I will have a look at it and join there too. I enjoy meeting people and talking on forums so commenting on the DP forums is definitely something I will do as much as possible in future months. Thanks again for your help. Wes
There is no such specific networking site, however you can make a list of those in the addthis widget and submit only the first 20 to 30 sites with high PR and backlinks Yes DP and WF are one of the best forums which get you more and more traffic and backlinks !!!!
