I know there are tons of dating sites out there but I am not quite sure how they start their site in the first place. I read in an article that some guys stole 250,000 profiles from facebook and uploaded them in their dating site so that they would have a nice kick-off. Is that what other sites usually do? I mean do they start with 1000+ fake profiles so that people who come to their site would prefer to join?
I wouldn't doubt it, in order for a dating site to become popular their has to be a lot of activity...after all nobody wants to join a dead site (I wouldn't try stealing profiles from facebook though no matter what! ).
Faking it is retarded, because you have to have interaction for people to stick around, let alone pay you every month. But, I'm assuming that you want to actually make money. My suggestion is get the right resources (development, financial) to launch the right strategy. Look at utilizing an affiliate program and other ways to scale the growth. Good luck...
A few methods come to mind: - Use a white label dating platform, some of these automatically transfer profiles to you. Admittedly, many of these are probably fake - Start a site related to dating and build a subscriber list which may later join your dating site when it launches - Find a niche, create a landing page to collect email addresses, promote the page, email pending registrants and launch the site
