It really depends on the level of competitiveness. If you have some niche keywords, there's a way to instantly push your site within a few hours. Find blogs with a high PR that use a WordPress plugin called "Top Commentators". All you have to do then is comment on such a blog until you are on the list. The link you get there is usually "dofollow".
