I've been trying to optimize my site as much as possible and I was thinking if there's more I can do? I know that adding more unique content would help, but other than that? I've planned to write some more stuff myself, but I want to optimize it as much as possible first. The site is beantrends.com. I registered it when it dropped earlier this year, and I guess that's why google is ignoring it? I've got first place in MSN and Yahoo if you search for "bean trends", but google don't seem to like me at all. I've added the sitemap at their site, but haven't noticed any difference. All help would be appreciated
Your site looks cute Just had a look at it. Just want to mention here.. that if you try and open http://beantrends.com/ it gives a 404 Not found error. You'll need to modify your htaccess file for this. You should collect links for your site, improve PR. Also, since you're targetting a very niche topic, it will be a good idea if you write a few articles (put your link in the articles) to promote your website. This way, you'll get targetted users to your site and links also.
Thanks for taking the time to comment my site I'll take a look at the config file to see why it gives that 404 error. Yeah, I've planned to write some articles so I get some more unique content. If I write articles and post them on other sites (with link), is it a bad thing to also have those articles posted on my own site? Thinking about duplicate content...
Yes and no - it depends on who page gets indexed first by the Search Engine but even that isnt a safe gaurd. Keep articles on your site seperate from ones that will be posted on other sites.
You domain has a PageRank of 3, but searching for site:www.beantrends.com shows no results. It's possible that your domain has been banned (or manually removed) from the Google index. How long have you had the domain? Check your Google Sitemaps account for diagnostics, there may be a clue in there... Cryo.
I bought the domain in a drop the last of May this year, so I guess it's excluded from google because of that. Anyone know how long it'll take before a re-registered domain can get included again?
Thanks, I've done a reinclusion request. By the way, you can now make the request at www.google.com/webmasters/sitemaps if you click the tools menu.
woah woah woah cowboy, if you have PR, it's usually a good indication that you are not banned. I did a search for your domain and it is displaying search results (not just your domain, Google changed there search ) so it's displaying sites linking to you My top tips for your site, in your title tag, move your domain name to the end of the line so it's [title]keyword stuff blah blah keyword[/title] and if you want your domain at the end for your top ads, I'd centre align them so it looks more 'fitting' and may help increase CTR Change the title at the top of the page to...say
Bean Trends
or even
BeanTrends.com
, the search engines give special weight to header tags when used properly place [] with <> and I hope that helped and any more and you'll have to pay me
Forgot to say that I do have a lot of incomming links, but if you look at http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=site:beantrends.com&btnG=Google+Search you can see that the domain itself is not included at the moment...
oh yeah, something else as well, your site is hosted on a .com (universal TLD) so puts all the weight on where your site is hosted locally on where you will rank in the world. At the moment you are on a Swedish server so you will do extremely well on google.se... I noticed your site only came about in May this year, so that's 5 months so it's still a baby, I don't think you've been sandboxed as you have PR, but your site is missing in Google... strange
I think the content is king and the links are the queen. The content (a very high quality content) will be apreciated by visitors and the links will apear in time.
I'd say that is very true, another name for this is 'Link baiting', probably the best way to obtain links. Link baiting in a nutshell is you (the webmaster) writing an article, a blog post, whatever that other webmasters find really useful and link to because they feel it will be useful to there visitors. So in a nutshell, Link bait = you write article ---> people link ---> good positions
