i think, they try to ensure safety in their country, in indonesia, many terorist use burqa to cover their face, so police can't recognize them..
One of the best laws passed in 2010 . Love it 100% . It's a natural step for France who always cuts out extremism and it's a good thing for all religions
probably referring to the freedom for husbands and fathers to exert their god-given right to turn their wives/daughters into walking bags
As opposed to.... where? Afghanistan? Pakistan? Saudi Arabia? Any other shinning examples of womens rights, where reporting a rape can get you whipped? This is like the 5th post you have made talking about "freedom", as if you know the meaning of the word.
If only it was that simple eh, IMHO it just means the already downtrodden women won't even be allowed out now! What's next, a new kidnapping law for husbands that won't let out their wives?
To be fair to France, this law has nothing to do with women, religion, or Islam. The law simply states that you can not roam around in public with your face covered, which means if you have become accustomed to roaming the streets of Paris in a ski mask, you are in for a rude awakening. The first group of people I thought of when heard about the law were the anarchists who always seem to come out for the G8 and WTO summits. They are always wearing bandannas and throwing ash trays through shop windows to let everyone know how much they care about the poor. Regardless of where you stand on the "freedom" issues on this law, I doubt many people are opposed to making those hoodlums show their faces. Well, for starters, it isn't spelled "Freedumb".
There is a similar law / ban against wearing a hood, concealing ones identity in public within the US as a barrier against the Klan: KKK - upheld by the Supreme Court. Both are well intended laws......
By the way, is it true that in some (islamic) countries there is a law prohibiting women to be in public with the face UNcovered? Just wondering.
It's ironic ain't it that this rag heads shout loud in a country that gives them freedom and opportunity only to bite the hands that feeds them. Personally I think they should just ban Islam altogether or go home.
So if you force a woman to wear a burqa for secular reasons it won't do the same damage ? Also since when do you advocate for laws to treat religion in a "special" way . I thought you where an atheist or are you an atheist for Christians , Jews , Hinduist and Buddhist only ?
Well for a start, some women do believe that it is their duty to wear it and whatever spin is on it I have seen women on many talk shows arguing that they want to wear it, and why. Some believe they must, so IMHO they should be allowed. As for advocating laws, my previous comment was a retort to Obamanation's claim that it is to stop gangs covering their faces and has NOTHING to do with women, religion, or Islam. That's not advocating a law, it's putting forward a 'reasonable' counter-argument to his proposition. FTR; I don't like it and I would feel uncomfortable being around a person wearing one, but who am I to intrude on their beliefs? Finally, i'm no atheist as I know there is a God. Anything else you'd like to mis-read?
