So after about two years I tried all these in many occasions abusing them all together except content of course. I made a site full of keywords, I tr,ied to get many backlinks as fast as possible. In two years in my own uneducated humble opinion I would say content is what makes things happen. Again I tried many sites, mini sites, and other stuff to make money or to get noticed. then I wrote an article on hubpages about my military career, i did not think about the title, or meta tags, or SEO, or keywords, or anything to make it on the first page of Google, I just wrote based on my experience and posted videos and links related to what I was saying, I started getting comments and I answered them sincerely, the article started to move up in Google, now there are more than 300 comments, it's mostly on second place on many searches and because of it I've gotten my adsense money, not much but it made me realize first thing should be content and then everything else is secondary, what if I had many articles like that written to inform and share with good SEO, I know I am lazy but with the right balance good things can happen. Bottom line, be patient don't fall on traps about making money overnight, it will most likely not happen, use Black hat SEO and you may get results but they will go away, I tried that, I still rely on my one article that still makes money out of so many that I tried, but the one that I didn't care about money when writing it is the moneymaker.
What works is 1) Find where your target audience is hanging out online 2) Find out their preferences 3) Build your site around solid content 4) Converse with your target audience 5) Tweak your site around their needs
yeah, that's happens to me too, but when i applied to my another site it can't be success as the first thing.
All of this guys replies revolve around producing authentic content and I cant agree more ! Be it link building or viral marketing or even simple blog posting you wont go far without solid content .
This means that the slow and steady wins the entire game of SEO. Not those fast black hat SEO techniques.. You might get what you want to rank for in SERPs using black hat in just a short period of time. But all of those will disappear in a short period of time too. Better stay on the long term as you will most likely to benefit on it.
