Erm, the Google directory is a clone of dmoz.org with cosmetic changes. Perhaps indyonline hasn't heard of it or maybe he was thinking of Google search.

Maybe you should try reading his post again................
he said, and I quote, "Google Directory is actually based entirely on the DMOZ directory "
Do you really think that is true??????????????????????????????????????

another funny thing, Goole directory is a cloan of DMOZ as you mentioned, Google is cheaters once again with duplicate content penalties but it's ok for them to do.
Once again, things are ok for them but not everybody else.

Of course - though it's not always up to date. If I was going to just make stuff up, as several posters here do, there's be no point point in my posting. As it happens, most of my posts here are to correct errors and false assumptions made by others - as in this case.

Only difference is, dirhp has about 2 times the number of listings the ODP does. ;)

Ok, thanks to MIA I see now he might have been saying dirhp is the same. I thought he was saying google index was the same as DMOZ results and that Googles index was based on DMOZ listings.
    My bad. :p
