If you haven't already, disable any plugins or extra themes installed on the site. It's unlikely, but possible, that one of these could be interfering with your site in some way so for most WordPress problems, this should be the first thing you check just in case.

Is the site new, or has it always had this problem? If the issue started after a WP upgrade, for example, it may just be a case of corrupt or missing files. If this is a new site, and turning off plugins etc doesn't work, you may want to try reuploading the WordPress core to your server (though it'll be easiest if you don't overwrite your wp-config.php file.

If the site previously worked fine and has suddenly developed this issue when you've made no changes or installed anything new, then it's time to get in touch with your webmaster or host and ask if they can tell what's going on.

The problem is coming from permalinks. Usually when i input a title in wordpress, it will automatically create a link. But it no longer happens. And it does not save automatically, rather it gives error 404 when i try to save manually as well as automatically and it also give error 404 if i try to preview. Anyone know a way out?

What are your permalinks set to? Try changing them to something else and back (sounds silly but it's flushes the permalinks and can solve weird issues).

Did the site just suddenly start doing this after working normally, or is it a new site? If the latter, it could be that your hosting is not set up to allow permalinks.

it suddenly started acting this way. It usually works normal before. It is set to custom "post name".

Well I'm pretty much out of ideas, sorry! I'd just ask your host tbh, sounds like a more techy problem than a strictly WordPress one.

edit: that's assuming "post name" isn't exactly what's written in your permalink setting, it should have %'s around it and no space.
