Just wondering, have any of you recently just gone through and submitted to every directory on the list? How long did it take you? I started today, and did A-C in about 75 minutes.
You could spend a week getting through that list, especially if you are submitting many sites. Nothing in this world more painful than mass directory submisisons.
I don't know...it's a close one between mass directory submissions and mass category META tagging/descripting.
ROFL, How many sites you got to submit? Are you sure you submitted to the good category and read all the guidelines of the directories? Its not because they are seo friendly that they'll accept all kind of submissions! I'm submitting to Dan's list for 15 dyas (while working on lots of projects) and i'm at the letter G right now. I still have 400 directories to submit to (9 submissions per directory all manually done by me ). I think it'll take me a whole month, i'll try to do 1 letter per day. If you do only submissions you run crazy and you get lazy and don't want to submit anymore lol
I did it recently, and it took me about a week, just doing a few letters each day. Mind-numbing stuff, I have to say. What is frustrating is how quickly some of the directories change their payment model, or become unuseable, so at any given time about 5% of the list is out of date. And this is still probably the most up-to-date list on the web. So if you do go through the list, please take 10 minutes to post your Directory feedback on Dan's forum. This makes it better for everyone using the list.
Well if you submitted just a site 75minutes is correct . You can go through 150 directories per day if you submit just a site
I pick at the list once in a while. It truly is a mind numbing excersize (but worth doing it right IMO).
It is worth doing, but best to find a good quality submitting service to do it for you. I simple cannot justify spending a week of my time on submitting to all the directores on the list.
Might make a good subject for one your blog posts judging from the submissions I see for sites offering such services. Is there any wheat out there amongst the chaff?
I have used these submitting services for 20 domains and a total of 4800 submits! Pretty poor results in my opinion. But cheap, so not bothered. But that still leaves me with the need to get good quality backlinks for quality directories, something that Dan requires to be listed. Yes would make for some interesting posts ...
I sumbitted to all of the free directories in the list. Took about a week doing 3 subs per directory. But I didn't do each and every one of them though. There a couple I thought wasn't very good for my sites. But awesome list none the less. Next up...paid directories. Now I just have to corner my boss and squeeze a budget out of him.
Thats what I mean about speding you money properly. whats the average wage in the US? I have no idea, lets say 5,000usd a month. thats 1250 for a weeks directory submission. Now a professional service must be able to make money by submitting multiple sites into each directory. You could what 10 sites a week?
Well it tooks me like 8 hours to submit 2 sites to that list (but i use my own list like 300 webdirectorys) InformEnter Rulez
it takes me about 30 seconds to submit to a directory, so 400 X 30 is 200 minutes. Meaning it took me about 3 hrs and 20 minutes a few weeks ago for 1 site
I use roboform, adn its impossible for me to go that fast! On a mind boring day 200 max, that 1 submit every 2.5 minutes in an eight hour work day.
What if I subit to all thak 1k+ directories. Does this help me getting a good SERPs position? Or should I invest the money in buying a PR7/8 link?
The best directory is yahoos. Its a question of return on investment, and opportunity cost. If you earn 1000 dollars a week, its not work you doing the submission to Dans list. Pay some else to do it for you.
