The remaining Taliban have the ability only to make sporadic strikes at targets of opportunity. That's guerilla warfare, and that's not going to stop for many years. The Taliban are not running the country, and they won't, as long as the Western world is determined not to let Afghanistan slide back into darkness. Is that what you would like to see, Afghanistan and the rest of the world falling under the control of a bunch of Islamofascists?
Actually it was just on the news a couple days ago. The general over there says the taliban will win over the people within 6 months if we can't get their country together.
That's an odd summary, due to the bizarre ways that it completely fails to take geography into account.
Majority of Afghans 'may swing to Taliban' in next 6 months, warns NATO Gen. NATO's Afghanistan Commander General David Richards has said that the country was at a tipping point and that majority of Afghans will begin supporting the Taliban unless conditions improved in the country in the next six months. General Richards said up to 70 per cent of Afghans would prefer an "austere and unpleasant" life under the Taliban rather than endure the high levels of fighting that has been part and parcel of Afghan life since the Soviet invasion and is likely to continue for years to come. http://www.newkerala.com/news4.php?action=fullnews&id=33139
the non-spun version of that article actually states that somewhere around 70% of afghans were waiting to see who comes out on top before they decided who to support.
North Korea nuke test good news? (in some ways, at least) http://www.nytimes.com/2006/10/17/w...b367b442e5e752&ei=5088&partner=rssnyt&emc=rss North Korea might have overplayed its hand, and exposed that it is really weak in reality. Trying for attention seems to the obvious reason here.
North Korea planning up to 3 more nuclear tests (since the first one was sooo successful, I guess): http://www.breitbart.com/news/2006/10/18/D8KR5TG00.html In lighter news: N Koreans held a solidarity march for their beloved leader. It was candle light of course. Why? No Electricity!
Or material? I dunno. That is kinda funny though. I thought of that too. Who ever said Lil Kim made good decisions, though?
I don't have Showtime.. Just HBO and the Starz Package... That was the best deal, offered the most channels, and best bang for the buck...
Oh man, you absolutely have to see it. Go buy it right now. Don't wait for next day air from Amazon. Send one of your minions to Wal-Mart.
I've always been a big Matt Stone and Trey Parker fan.. Those guys are hilarious... I will have to pick up a copy tomorrow... They are turning an old K-Mart into a Slumberland (whatever the hell that is) and I have to be on their roof tomorrow to hook up internet. I think there's a Shopko or Blockbuster next door... That or I could just bit-torrent it down and attract the RIAA and MPAA...
