These are the things I do to get more traffic and yet I 350 to 400 visitors per day.. Can someone tell me what am I doing wrong or what more should I do. 1) I write good content and latest so that I traffic from search engines 2) Social media- I post all the latest articles I post on facebook twitter etc.. I also post other than link from my website. 3) I have collected about 300 email id via email subscriptions 4) I market in forums related to topic ofcourse.. Nothing illegal.. 5) Find people on facebook, twitter interested in the topic of my website and tell them to visit.. Thank you in advance..
Have you done seo? That is important to be in good books with search engines. If you don't get immediate boost in traffic, you can consider going in for ppc advertising like google adwords Getting natural traffic from search engines may be slow but we should make it a steady one...
Oh sorry I forgot to mention.. I have done SEO.. 1) User friendly URL 2) Clear Title and description on the posts and on pages 3) Relevant keywords nothing illegal.. I post the latest happening so when people google the keyword I get traffic... Still stuck at 350-400 visitors per day..
Have you targeted too narrow a range of keywords? The more keywords/keyword phrases that you target related to your niche, with new articles, the more new traffic you get. If you keep adding new content targeting what you have already targeted, you are reinforcing your organic search postition and not getting fresh traffic.
I think you should also put a little effort in gaining backlinks. Have a read here - increase backlinks.
With respect to backlinks.. I have done forum posting as I mentioned earlier... Directory submission to some level.. I have to try article submission... I have heard link exchange is not effective now... And so is commenting heard by many sources that these 2 are out dated method and dont work now.. Social Bookmarking I feel is the best method.. I really suck at it... Don't know how to improve to increase traffic..
checking monthly search terms for dotcoms - more for defense than defence. how does this compare with your competition? you can use a tool like keywordspy to check out domains and keywords by country. and, as you say, it could be the niche or your efforts are not targeted enough (or too much!)... for example, aviationweek has over 10,000 organic keywords, 92 PPC keywords and 1,000 organic competitors... your expectations and the results are not in alignment now - what's your goal? Cheers!
Not necesarily ... just target a wider range of related keyword phrases. You might also try having shorter titles on your posts, making shorter ones more focused to a searchable phrase. For example instead of "Top 5 aircraft in Operation Odyssey Dawn to enforce no-fly zone in Libya" perhaps "Top Military Aircraft Outing in Libya" ... Anyway, good luck!
Hey, I've read a long guide on SEO and you might find it useful (no promoting, selling nothing, I am legit ) - http://www.the-website-guide.com/the-ultimate-search-engine-optimization-guide.html Besides all SEO factors, you could start Yahoo Answers! I get 400+ visitors from it daily, just by answering 20 questions daily in my niche. Sure, in the beginning I had 5-30 visitors per day, but it has been increasing since then, now I don't need to answer but I still get 400+! Then perhaps, create a Youtube account if you could show people something.
I had looked in Yahoo! Answers but was never serious... Will give it a serious try.. I already used http://www.youtube.com/defenceaviation
Since you're already on Youtube, then start commenting on similar videos with lots of views. May bring like 200 visitors per month if it's popular. If you're looking for some tips on Yahoo, I have it in the site I have listed, at How to Get Traffic. Good luck!
Okay ... Search in Google for "google free keywords tool". Now with a UK spelling in your domain name, ideally you should choose UK location, otherwise choose US (click Advanced Options below keyyword box). Type in "defence aviation". Then, look to the left, "match types", unclick "broad" and click "exacts". The results will now show the exact number of searches for your term and related terms over the last 30 days. On the right, click "Local Monthly Searches". Now you will see the most popular search phrases, related to your domain name keywords, in popularity order. The most glaring thing is that for UK searches the highest is 320 searches! Okay, backspace out the first word in the keyword box "defence" and search agin but this time for just "aviation". Oh - I don't know what your plans are for monetizing the site, but click "columns" on the right, and in the drop down check "Estimated Average CPC", then "Apply". That will give you average earnings per click if you use adwords. Useful to choose phrases to target. Now go through the keyword list and see what keywords you could target that getting high traffic that you are not targeting. (Have you thought of targeting "aviation jobs"). Next, it's a matter of "drilling deeper" ... Checking on your hosting panel, look to see what keywords bring traffic to your site. Use those keywords in the tool to find other phrases. Rinse and repeat and repeat. Make a list of words and their search volume - then you know which ones you want to target first. I had a quick play and found that "plane games" in the UK had an average monthly search of 27,000 ... perhaps add a section on your site devoted to military plane games? (just a thought). Anyway, I hope you get the idea. Oh ... do a search for "best wordpress seo plugins". Don't go mad and add hundreds. Spend some time researching them, then add one at a time and monitor the results. Good luck!
