i want to know that what should be the minimum and maximum length of meta tags. - Title - Keywords - Description according to me and i have research on it google has define that minimum and maximum length of meta tags should be: Title (60 Char) Keywords (250 Char) Description (160 Char). Am i Right for meta tag if we define long meta tag that Google will read only its Char Length tag. And remain Char Tag will ignore in term of search. please suggest me.
I think the idea is just make them short, simple and to the point. Those limit doesn't says the rest will be ignored, on Title tag, the rest will not shown on search result. It is fine to go beyond 60 char as long those words has something to do with the page, Google will recognize it.
Length of Title: up to 70 character Length of description: up to 155 Character Length of Keywords: up to 250 character
I often control the length of my title less than 66 character and the length of description up to 150 characters because I want both of my title and description are showed completely in the SERP.
I thought description length was 155 and title 70 characters. I am just hearing and reading about this from DP forums. I have to go research myself. Thanks for sharing though.
What the?! According to you?? Why are you even asking us for suggestions if you've done the research yourself?
i haven't seen this. but if their is any changes so all the webmaster should follow them. Thanks for update us.
Yes, this is correct. Also several of the other main search engines such as Yahoo/Bing don't use them. The smaller engines may use them, but don't keyword stuff - no more than 3 of the same keyword. Google etc stopped looking at the keyword tag several years ago because some webmasters stuffed them with hundreds of keywords.
These are standards format for search engines. You can go beyond the length. Google fetch meta description and title with the search terms. Google doesn't consider meta keywords now. So, there is no value of it. You can include meta description to maximize density of content and keywords of title.
Well importantly, Google uses the description metatag in their search results to describe your site. Whether you choose to believe that they have no effect, you should use this tag to control how Google shows your site in the search results.
Unless you work for Google, and work in that particular area, how can anyone say that Google does not look at any meta tags? Or that Google does look at them? You can't. So, why not play it safe, take the minute or two that it takes to include them on a page, and use them. It can't hurt..But, might help)
