As a rank beginner on the directory front, I am curious what all the buzz is about. 1. When you first start a directory, do you feed it a link from one of your existing sites so it gets indexed and then reciprocal link requests feed it from there until it grows in PR? 2. Why is it so time consuming to process all the link requests? Is it because most directories that are indexed get loads of submissions? Or do only free directories get loads of submissions? Thanks, Jon
1 . Links to any site gets him indexed and with PR the easy way to get links webdirectory submissions 2 . When you get 100 submissions/day (and this not on a very popular webdirectory) it's time consuming
1. Yes if you get a link back that will good and if your website has Good Page Rank then your directory will get indexed faster. 2. The process is time consuming because you have to check each link whether they meet your criterion of directory or not. Other wise your directory will a spammed by spammer posting adult content sites and other pharmacy sites. Hope this answers the question.
If I feed my directory a link from a PR5 site, how quickly will my site get 10+ link requests per day? Is this likely to happen in the first week? After 6 months?
Make sure your directory is known in your niche. I guess to get it started you have to hunt for links yourself, so people (yes people, not search engines) may actually like your directory enough to come back. Getting the word out is usually done through topic related forums. To avoid annoying people, make sure you also contribute actively to the forum.
