Is Area51 Worth The Premium Membership Fee?

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by spiritfly, Apr 4, 2011.

I'm an old DP member, but I haven't been active for some time and these Premium stuff are new to me. I don't sell nothing here (at least not yet) but I would like to be a part of this forum as much as I'm dedicated to online business and such.

So I would like to know is Area 51 worth paying the fee? What exactly am I missing? And if the guides and info that is worth $$$ are in a premium members only area does that mean that the other sections are left with junk? Can a regular member learn and have fun here just like it was a few years ago?

If you are just after Area 51, it's probably not worth it.

Like Shawn said Area 51, Although a secret society of premium webmasters, alone is not worth your money. Now if you need more links in your siggy, use the bump button and want to be able to do it every 7days(instead of 30), etc than its worth it. Its also good & bad if you deal a lot in the forum. Its a badge of honor, but I do often get some stranger pms by people who think I am a mod and want help.

There are a lot of other features you get with premium membership, but if you don't already know what they are (since you already use them), you probably aren't going to care...

http://tools.digitalpoint.com/tracker.php lets you track up to 200 positions deep (instead of default 20).

http://tools.digitalpoint.com/phonehome.php lets you view the exact IP of your lost/stolen computer.

http://products.digitalpoint.com/vbulletin-sphinx-search.php "must have" if you run a large vBulletin 4 forum.

As a premium member you'll get 2 extra signature spots under you besides so many other advantages. Have you look into that ?

True. In fact I used it just once and it was boring.

Bump/Edit features is good for me, since I am seller. PMs stay longer in my inbox. and yes people ask me for help too because of one of my threads

most of yours are nofollowed by the automated spam prevention feature of this forum.

in my case not eternally, but yes, I am happy.

I'm not on anyone's side... I was the first one to say Area 51 isn't worth premium membership.

I was just pointing out that your logic is completely flawed (which it is).

You might as well have said you would never buy an Apple product because bananas are slippery.

He's actually comparing DigitalPoint with the link above (WebcosmoForums?). At least, that's what I think Refresher does :)

Hmmm divided opinions eh?! Now does this mean that: "Those who know, do not speak. Those who speak, do not know."
