Best Video Editing Software?

What's is the best video editing software. I have videos I recorded on my digital camera. Where they are extremely dark. I'm trying to tune the contrast and brightness on these videos. Then apply and save the videos with these new settings?

Am I able to do this with Adobe Premiere?

    Probably - to a point.

Remember that videos suffer from the same problem as digital stills where the darker the original is, the harder it will be to correct it. Even the most advanced editing software can't restore pixels that simply aren't there!

Save yourself a lot of time & effort by making sure that your originals are shot correctly (lighting, exposure, etc). Attention to detail at this point means less "fiddling" later on!

You can do this with VirtualDub and any of the many brightness/contrast filters out there. IT'S ALL FREE.

If you want to pay to do it, then Vegas is a good place to start.

You may try this Video Editor, it's a nice video editing software that can help you edit, join, split, trim, crop, convert and cut video, my friends recommend it to me, it's easy to use and works pretty well for me, it embeds many special effects. I had made a video with it and the video got award, that's pretty cool. Here is the free download link.

I use Sony Vegas primarily for video editing. I've never really tried to alter the contrast or brightness though.
