What is the best way to promote a classifieds website?

Hello guys, I'm working to a classifieds website, and I'm ready to launch it in final beta version. I'm not sure what market strategy should I use, since it's my first international website.

OP 1st thing I'd do is make ultra sure that the website has a pop-up offering the user his native language version based on location . As for marketing you'll need to post on a gazillion load of forums , AdWord it to specific websites (competitors ) and launch a media blitz .

 

Try to make some regional version of your classifieds website like USA, UK, ASIA or India. That will attract more people to place some paid ads.

Do google adwords for search and content. If able to help you bring traffic from search engine and from other site. I do think that google adwords is a marketing strategy that cannot be lack to promote your classified website.

 

Try it on craigslist, they are good online classified ads.

Yes, good advices above. Also use all SEO methods as for non-classifieds websites: posting on forums and blogs, bookmarking and directory submission.

 

One of the best ways IMO will be to create 3000-4000 flyers (you should be able to do these quite cheaply). People will see them and think, "I should list my bike on this site..".

Find a way to make the initial version of your website popular. The biggest turnoff for a website is one with no and outdated content.
The startup costs will be high though.

 

not an easy task buddy when there are competitors like kijiji, gumtree and craigslist..start off with SEO and if you got the funds, try facebook ads. Good luck!

I think the only way to promote initially is paid advertising as this niche is full of competition.

 

Write press releases, articles and maybe buy some advertising space on high authority websites with lots of traffic.

 

Use all off page techniques to promote it,but for fast results try paid marketing.
