Hi all, first post on this forum and I am looking for advice on a leaflet I want to produce. I already have a printer in mind and they can design the leaflet but I need to let them know what iI want on it.

Im thinking a A5 170gsm gloss double sided.

Here is what Im thinking but I know it can be improved.

    Side One

Title of leaflet Want a New Kitchen?

my phone number and website address here

I'm Joe Bloggs, an independent kitchen fitter with many years experience supply and fitting great quality kitchens at affordable prices.

    - Happy to fit all makes of kitchens at upto 50% less than DIY Store fitting prices

    - One stop shop. I can provide a full service from Waste removal, Gas and Electrical works, Tiling, Plumbing etc

    - All workmanship guaranteed for 24 months

    - Showroom finish on all fitted kitchens or no pay

    - 95% payment on completion

    - References available on request or look at my website for genuine pictures and references

    Phone numbers and website here

On the other side I am thinking of putting some 3d drawing of a kitchen up with a supply from price and a fitting from price

Any Sales copywriters out there willing to give me any advice?

    Best Regards,
    Kitchen Fitter

You provide a good list of why people would choose your, however you are giving no call to action, you need something there so when they are looking for a kitchen fitter, they see this and feel inclined to call you or make an enquiry.

At the moment in my opinion, people are likely to look at your leaflet, decide they like the sound of it, keep it in a pile or a list with the rest of the kitchen fitters they are looking through and only possibly call you back.

I would recommend some text in their asking them to give you a call for a FREE no-obligation, quote or something basically telling the consumer to call now, not later.

Of course I should thanks very much. I was thinking of offering a 5% discount if they mention the leaflet. Do you think it is a good enough incentive when the likes of BandQ offer a 50% discount even though they just overprice their prices to give the discount so in reality they are not offering any discount at all ??

Any copywriters out there willing to work with me on this or in other words re write it? I also have a one side a4 sales letter which need writing as well. If any one wants to quote on both that would be great. Examples of any work you have done would be good too.
    Thanks

Good start. I like the use of bullets, however there are too many of them for a flyer. Will it double as a door hanger?

"Want A New Kitchen?" This is weak.

"I'm Joe Bloggs, an independent kitchen fitter with many years experience supply and fitting great quality kitchens at affordable prices." Move this further down. Instead, start with a huge benefit.

"Happy to fit all makes of kitchens at upto 50% less than DIY Store fitting prices" Weak phrasing.

"One stop shop. I can provide a full service from Waste removal, Gas and Electrical works, Tiling, Plumbing etc" Weak phrasing. Get rid of I can, I will, I wish, I may, I might, etc ...

"Showroom finish on all fitted kitchens or no pay" I like this. should be prominent. Belongs higher. Possibly headlining.

"All workmanship guaranteed for 24 months" Maybe combine with headline.

    Do this:

    • Write down exactly what you think your prospects want.
    • Write down what your prospects don't want.
    • Write down exactly how you would satisfy this want.
    • Create a list of one-liners that use active verbs and create a picture

Then start arranging them. Work it out on paper (screen).

I may take a crack at this a bit later, as my schedule permits.

I think you've started down the right track! :D

    I'm Joe, a professional kitchen fitter and I'll give you a ...
Showroom Shine Or You Don't Pay A Dime

Wow. Mine is a little weak too. I'm thinking that your prospects will want a kitchen floor that looks brand new. I'd figure out a way to wiggle "brand new" somewhere in the copy.

If you guarantee something like that, the rest of your copy must convey strength and confidence. No weak, passive verbs!

    :)

I won't offer advice on the sales pitch as others have already done that.. but one thing I can advise on is this.. I used to have a bathroom showroom/fitting company 20 years ago and I had some leaflets done which I distributed to every house in my home town at the time. I was advised back then to put a little coupon at the bottom, something like 'Bring this leaflet in for your 10% discount'... Let me explain why this is good...

    1) What do most people do with leaflets when they come through the door? Throw them in the bin... The discount coupon could be attractive enough for someone who isn't necessarily looking right now for a new kitchen, but in 6 months could be... They may keep this leaflet and come back to you at a later day...

    2) People LOVE discounts/freebies.. It's in our blood, if we think we are getting something 'knocked off' we are very happy bunnies.

When my leaflets went out (The week of the shop opening) I got no response... Thinking I had wasted my money I was pleasantly surprised when people flocked in with their 10% coupons from the leaflets over the following months.... It worked!

I was thinking of giving a 5% discount if you mention the leaflet. I just wonder if 5% is enough to get people interested enough to keep the leaflet when the big companies offer 50% discounts. The thing is their discounts arn't real.

Yeah, trust me on this one, it's not the amount.. it's just the offer... You are using two things here to combine to make a sale.. 1) Good sales pitch, which I am sure you will achieve on this leaflet. 2) A discount to go with it... SOLD.. 5% is fine.. OR... another way of giving MORE discount for LESS is to give freebies...

This is how it works... Say you are fitting a kitchen for £5000 . 5% of that is £250... However... (and this is just an example)... You could say on your leaflet. 'Free washing machine with every kitchen'... Then you go buy a washing machine at trade price for say £180, but the retail value of that machine is £290. So... instead of the customer saving £250, they save £290.. BUT.. and this is the best bit... You haven't lost £290, You have lost just £180.... Make sense?

Yeah makes total sense and is a very good idea. I must admit I want to sell my fitting services more than the supply service

Sure, this was just an example of how you can make the client feel they have a good deal (which they do have) but it might not be as good as they believe it to be...

Another thing we used to do as fitters, is we would quote our clients to supply and install, then we would phone Dolphin Bathrooms and actually give them our client's details... After we had quoted say £3000 for the job, you could always guarantee Dolphin would quote £15,000 for the same job... Guess who got the work?... ;-)

No I have to admit, when I was doing this 20 years ago you could do this kind of thing easily... I guess you are right, so easy to get a washing machine yourself now for £100... crazy!

First of all, you need a hell of a lot more copy than that.

Most of your potential customers will be women, so if you can, try to think like one.

Also, ask as many women you know for advice.

    Women want:

    Color
    A lot of counter space
A place to hang accessories, like pot holders, a picture, larger utensils...
    Safety for their children
    Nice-looking, roomy cabinets
A place for a vase full of flowers (although not all women want this, obviously)

On this leaflet of yours, you definitely need a picture or two of a nice, homey, AFFORDABLE-looking kitchen.

    http://www.google.com/images?hl=en&...=UTF-8&source=og&sa=N&tab=wi&biw=1015&bih=536

Take out the "Want a new kitchen?"

Of course they want a new kitchen. Use that space for a more powerful pitch.

Don't ever ask questions in your copy. Instead make powerful, emotional statements.

Just examples, but they can be stronger: MAKE COOKING EASIER IN YOUR NEW KITCHEN!

START COOKING IN YOUR NEW KITCHEN!

You are not selling a new kitchen.

    You are selling faster meals.

You are selling a more relaxed evening cooking.

Remember: Many of us (men and women) do not have the time for cooking these days, nor do we want to spend that much time in the kitchen.

There's your main selling point, right there.

Your second selling point will be them seeing themselves in that nice, brand new kitchen, cooking dinner, with the stereo on or their favorite TV show on...so they will WANT to cook.

Mary Ash, from Chicago, Illinois says: "The kitchen use to be my least favorite room in the house. Without trying to sound like June Cleaver, I can't wait to get home to whip up a meal in my newly remodeled kitchen..."

Once you hook them, then you talk about how they can get it for the same price they pay for their monthly cellphone bill.

    Replace "fitter" with "designer."

Somewhere in your copy I would put in a recipe they could try. Then have something like this:

"Here's a new recipe you can try in your brand new kitchen. It's one of my favorite meals."

Visit my profile page at PerryRose.NET, and then send me an e-mail if you want to just talk for now.

    Good luck with it.

Ha ha! I should've looked up "kitchen fitter". My first thought was plumber (as in pipe fitter), then I figured it was a name for the professional who laid down my hardwood floors.

I agree with everything that Perry Rose says.

Well, almost everything. The part about people not spending time or wanting to spend time in the kitchen depends on the demographic.

Your marketing plan should contain info about neighborhoods and even households where there are children, larger families, double income no kids, etc ...

Then, you'd send out different messages to different homes.

I don't think you have to create a need for your service. The need exists, but it manifests differently amongst various households, as Perry alludes.

And the guy who suggests the coupons - genius! He's been there and done that. How much better advice can you ask for?

With that sir, I shall bid you adieu and leave you in the quite capable hands of Mr. Rose.

Good luck! Hope you get a lot of leads and make a bundle! :)

Hmmmm... I agree with some things you have said like I need to make the leaflet appeal to women and the lead title is very poor but other things i dont think your quite there if you dont mind me saying like Replace fitter with designer. They are 2 different job.
Thanks very much for posting and the advice. I will take it on board
