Hi everyone, im new here and want to thank everyone for accepting me into your community. I was wondering if it is possible to make a sitemap with notepad and add my url's as everytime i make a sitemap.xml, i have an error message (i cant remember exactly what it says) when i visit www.cymru.me/sitemap.xml thanks everyone
Yes, because a sitemap is just a plain text file. Question is: why would you? Every decent CMS system has a utility to create a sitemap either out of the box or through an addon. If you aren't using a CMS then you need to have a really good reason why not (and that's a far more interesting discussion) - and even then you're bound to be using a database to generate your content so just use that to create the map.
It is not necessary to utilize Notepad, any type of word processing application is appropriate, but all Windows PCs offer this program. To start, type in all webpages and all of links you have on the site. Create it as though you were listing all of the contents of a book. Complete a draft version initially after which go through the site once more; in this way you'll be less likely to miss anything out.
Like sarahk posted earlier: Question is: why would you? of course, it is possible to make a sitemap with notepad, but then you need to learn xml. you'd rather use any xml site generator
Simply you just create a Sitemp.xml file through an online tool xml-sitemaps.com. This tool will create a complete xml sitemap for your website. You have to just upload it on the FTP server...
you can simply make it by tool after that you can add the url and title according to your website in the note pad fiel
Why would you like to do that? I mean several site-map creator tools are available over Internet. Use them as they've created to do so...
If your site has less than 500 pages then you can create a free XML sitemap by going to Google and type XML sitemap generator online. Download it and upload it. Hope this helps.
