Is it necessary to become an editor of dmoz to submit a site for an SEO advantage?

I really doubt there's much of a SEO advantage of any type as it concerns DMOZ at this late stage in the game.

lets just say without being an editor, your chance to getting accepted is slim to none. or if you wanna bribe an editor to get accepted. they do take bribes there

You dont have to be an editor to get your link listed there, but it is useless anyway

In this days i don't think if there is any places left for becoming an editor on dmoz.
It is a seo advantage, because that will be a PR8 link, and it matters a lot.

Pretty much, yes. But google should just ditch DMOZ. I honestly don't see the relevance of it anymore. It's full of old outdated sites, including quite a lot of useless web pages. By Google's logic, then, DMOZ should be just left to die out.

Lol. It isn't a PR8 link you get. You get a link from a page which will have a reasonable PR like 1,2,3,4. So you get one single link from a page with a decent but not amazing PR. Hardly THAT important in the grand scheme of things.

There is no SEO advantage of having your site listed in DMOZ.

But there is PageRank advantage for sure if the listed category has Good PageRank.

Show that attitude in an application and you will not be an editor either. DMOZ are not interested in any weight a listing might or might not get.

Yes... Sadly it's the only way you will get in. I'm sure some will disagree but they probably got in years ago when it was a good thing. Now mostly it just people that sell the submission service. I quit wasting my time with it years ago. I have a nice site with high rankings and earnings (I'm sure most people say that but this is true) and submitted my site to the perfect category, and it is better then the other 6 sites in the category and it never got accepted. I have been contacted by a few people telling me they could get me approved for a fee. Don't even know how they found me and my submission unless they were a editor.
Anyway, if your going to waste your time and submit just do it once and forget about them forever. The submission is not even worth it if you ask me.

So true. and the only way you are going to get in. With thousands of submissions a day there, your submission would probably never be seen anyway.

Yes it is against their TOS but do you really think that stops people? No it doesn't because being an editor or know or paying one is the only way to get in.

I've never found directory submissions particularly useful or helpful in terms of SEO, most directories are little more than link farms and I doubt people really look through them to find something useful, you just go to Google and do a search

Your point makes me think of something funny.
Google discredits and penalizes link farms and directories. But not their own. DMOZ
Google discredits and penalizes Content farms but not their own. Blogger
Google is the biggest cheater out here.

After submitting to DMOz,you need to wait for approximately 6 months and give your contact information so that DMOZ can reach you.Google Directory is actually based entirely on the DMOZ directory so its well worth the wait.

    Wow!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
If you believe what you said you are out of your mind!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
You think every site in Google index is in DMOZ??????????????????
If you do you are wrong!!!!!
    ---------------------------------------
Your 6 month GUESS is wrong too.
Not worth the wait or time.
Thousands of people have been waiting for years.
Thousands (or more) never get in.
So you are COMPLETELY wrong in your post.
    ------
If I could give any more neg rep today you would definitely be getting some.
Guess I will have to wait til tomorrow.
