Hi I see people flogging domains for <$10 on ebay etc. Which means they must get their domains very cheaply for a few dollars. Are they buying using Yahoo special offer $2 or buying in bulk from some underground blackmarket or something? What is the story here? Any care to enlighten. Thanks
Some domains don't worth more than the reg fee The top three registrars i use for domain registration. 1. GoDaddy from $8.95 2. WelcomeOnLine.net from $7.85 3. NameCheap $8.88
I'm domain hunting, so i'm looking for a list of the cheapest domain registrars. excluding the obvious NameCheap and Godaddy - just want to know if anyones cheaper. I swear by namecheap myself, registrations come through pretty much straight away.
domainsite dot com is 6.99 for more common ones. A basic registeration is all you need to just manage name servers. You need the 7.99 reg if you want to do some of the fancy stuff.
Registerfly.com has cool offers but not every time. Make a user and wait for e-mails from them. Usualy they hav offers once a week !
NorthBoard.com $7.85 registers/ $6.95 transfers. These people are awesome and very similar to GoDaddy.com but are cheaper in a lot of their products like hosting and domain sales. They have a $1.99 sale right now like yahoo, but yahoo is only for one domain registration allowed, new customers only. NorthBoard is unlimited with purchase of an additional product like hosting. Plus lots of freebies after the purchase too. I have another 100 domains to transfer to NorthBoard.com from GoDaddy.com and some from NetFirms. Wasn't very pleased with NetFirms, customer service could be better. That is why I went to GoDaddy, GoDaddy was good but I get the same quality of support at NorthBoard but with cheaper rates. Just passing it along.....Good Luck This is Yahoo's offer.......check out the key phrase there. NorthBoard.com hasn't listed an expiration yet...just FYI for those requesting $1.99/1st yr (Discount for new customers only) Offer open only to new Yahoo! Domains customers purchasing a new web domain through Yahoo! Small Business. Offer expires 3/31/2007. Discount applies only to the first year of service. Limit one offer per customer on a single account for customer's own purchase only. Offer may not be combined with other offers or discounts, transferred, exchanged, or redeemed for cash. Other terms and conditions apply; see the Yahoo! Small Business Terms of Service when you sign up.
There might be many cheapest domain registrar but you should also check their reliability, IMO, godaddy seems cheapest and reliable too.
Cool link to domparison.com but their list isn't all that accurate I think...I have seen a lot of cheaper sites out there that are not even listed...... I use GoDaddy.com but am switching to NorthBoard now because they have better rates on a lot of products, including most domain names and the services seem to be pretty much the same as what I had at GoDaddy
I noticed netfirms is doing $4.95 .com/net/biz Anyone know if you can psuh a name to another user no charge. Thanks
Hey guys, I run domparison. I've updated with netfirms links - cheers! Will be adding a review facility soon so that people know which registrars they can trust etc. Thanks - if you could e-mail me these cheaper registrars I'll put them on the site a.s.a.p
Domain registrars have to pay the TLD registry a fee - I've seen estimates on other boards that for a .com, it works out to about $6 + an ICANN fee of $0.25, totalling $6.25. Some domain registrars offer promotional rates that are lower (Dotster had a 50c promotion earlier this year, Yahoo has had a $1.99 / $2.99 offer) - but these usually have restrictions in number of domains, or for a limited time only. What I've noticed is that the renewal fee here is much higher, and they do tend to make a domain transfer much more difficult. Some hosting companies throw in the "free domain" along with a hosting package - effectively you're paying for the domain, but they don't call out the cost separately. In general, this isn't too good an option because you're tied to the host. Some domain registrars (example network solutions) charge high prices ($34.99) - they get away with it because domain name prices were much higher in the past, and people haven't realised that they can change. Some domain registrars (example dotster or Enom) show a higher retail price ($14.95 / $29.95) but have discount coupons, or reseller pricing that brings down your actual rate. Effectively, you can expect to pay around $8 - $9 in general for domain registration, if you're registering a number of domains over a period of a year - however, you might get a promotional offer that's far less. If you plan to register only one or two domains, look for a promotional offer. If you're registering more, keep in mind the ease of use, additional features offered (webspace / email account / whoisguard etc.) - each registrar has different offerings. I use namecheap, enom and godaddy - some of these are because I bought domains which were on these registrars, and I haven't yet got around to transferring them. All three are reasonably easy to use and provide decent service. I would rate namecheap as the best - but others can and will have different recommendations. Hope this helps.
I like namecheap a lot. I would recommend staying away from registerfly, I've seen a lot of bad things about that company.
I'll second that - namecheap have always been excellent for me, never had a problem with them at all. I've heard a lot of bad things about regfly.
Netfirms @ $4.95 is not bad price. But only limited to 5 domains per billing address. Also after 1 year price jumps up to $9.95. I almost got a excited there for a second.
