I've got the same question.
I've got several PR4 sites. I'm making good use of social bookmarking and networking sites submission, and I build up inbound link with signatures via posting on forums and commenting.
I always find it hard to improve the page rank after it reaching PR4. I guess, if I need to go beyond PR4, I need to shift to buying some high quality links from relevant sites, have guest post on blogs on relevant niches, etc. I need to invest on the SEO rather than doing all the work by myself.
I'm wondering if there is good suggestions on how to improve the PR without buying inbound links.

Looking forwards to some help from the experienced webmasters.
