Do you think its right for Hospitals to ask what Religion you are ?

In many countries its a mandatory question others it not..

NOTE: Please don't only reply with what actual religion you are or not.

I find now problem with that question . Many religions have different types of rituals that can expose the patient to different types of pathogens so knowing the religion might actually save the patient's life .

If you're a Jehovah's Witness you won't allow blood transfusions etc. Religion plays an important role in how you get treated, not for racist purposes but for upholding your treatment beliefs.

people die in hospital, they would like to know so a Muslim is not given the last rights by a catholic priest. diabetics need insulin and most comes from pigs, something a hospital would not give to Muslims or Jews.

there are many reasons they ask and if you refuse, then on your head be it.

Yes, all good points about why they might ask, but the question is not really about why they ask, but should they be asking in the first place as a mandatory question.

For example worst case scenario, take a hospital under the ownership and or including a religious order, funded by the state and deciding the treatment principles of a patient based on the faith of the owners/order or worse still have any kind of faith forces upon us. Bare in mind not everybody practices religion, instead they where labelled at birth.

Personally i don't agree with that kind of crap . The patient should take the best approved bleeping treatment that the doctor gives him or he should discharge and go dig his dam grave .

doctors don't look at your admission file (except for allergy and othe rmedical info) when deciding what drug or treatment they'll perform. They won't wait until the next lot of Halal insulin arrives in the hospital. They ask for religion just to know what kind of shaman they should call in if one is about to die.

The Hippocratic code would suggest religious affiliation an inappropriate question.

Apart from your grammar, why do you think its an inappropriate question or was your post some copy and paste job, because you had nothing better to say ?

Its a common saying that you shouldn't hide anything when in front of a doctor or a lawyer
Because, you never know that even a small point (which you think is of no importance at all) might save your life

As said above by Samantha Pia, their are some medicines which are made from animal fat (pig/cow) which are not considered good for people
who belongs to Muslim or Jews religion, so if hospitals are asking you about your religion then they are kinda doing it for some good reasons ...

The answer speaks for itself - A voluntary assessment between the hospital and the patient is, as already stated by previous posts in the best interests of both parties and highly recommended. The question by the Hospital might include a disclaimer rather than refusal for admission.

They usually only ask so in the event that you are about to die they can bring someone in to perform whichever infantile ceremony your particular cult requires for you to get in to magical never never land.

Stox are you still peddling your irrational skepticism in here after all of these years? Its funny how some people with narrow minded moronic worldview?
In 30 years you will still be here posting your emotional-angry tirades hoping you can convince someone that the worldview of an idiot is ok to have:)

"75 years ago one brain celled atheists thought we lived in a bouncing universe, Thank God for the real scientists that understood that our universe had a real beginning"

"Atheism = infinite regress= an impossibility = one big headache hehe"
    Quoted by me lol

I'm actually arguing against religion. You could always ask your invisible sky daddy to do something about the bad man on the internet who keeps hurting your precious feelings, but we both know how effective that will be, even if only one of us is willing to admit it.
