Same with me... I own 5 sites each getting 500-1000 daily views and from all of them I only earned $1-2 during the past 3 weeks.. That's just weird..
Dont you understand, earning depends upon the niche you are in, and not the amount if UV you are getting!
What you earn in Adsense depends on few factors: 1. The niche: for one of my sites I get about 4 times more per click as for an other one. 2. The number of visitors you get to your site. Understandably Advertisers are far keener to advertise on a site that gets 500 visitors a day compared to a site that only gets 50. 3. The ad format. it is amazing how the shape, size and position of an ad affects the number of clicks and the price per click.
Backlinking is very important. I spend 20% of my time building new content for my sites and 80% getting backlinks. Google can see the difference between spammy backlinks and good ones. Not at all backlinks are the same. Try to put backlinks on RELATED sites and blogs. DON'T submit to unrelated directories etc. I know because I have bought backlinking packages for 10,000 backlinks on junk sites. This money was wasted. These were completely ignored by Google. Backlinks on Related, High-PR sites are the best. The very best is backlinks from related .EDU and .ORG websites and blogs. What also counts are the number of backlinks that come from these sites. The rule is LESS IS BETTER.
P.s. - Do some research. Despite op's fail, most everyone on this list (technorati top 10 in technology: http://technorati.com/blogs/directory/technology/ ) makes 50-100k a month. People even in the top 100 are rolling. Yes, from one site.
Ha Ha. Fully agree with you that the so-called adsense gurus he mentioned are worse than noobs. If a wet-behind-the-ears guy like can make as much as $280/day with adsense on 1 site, he does not know what he is talking about. Non-believers will be non-believers and will always stay in the rut, while others are laughing all the way to the bank.
the people who say stuff like this are always the ones that can't ever produce facts to back up their claims. At John Chow's Peak he was making less than $500 a month from adsense. One would have to be doing between 500k and 1MM in uniques per month to do $280/day. The truth is anyone doing that sort of traffic isn't even bothering with adsense because private sales and affiliates will pay SO much more at that level.
You speak as though you are an adsense guru. What 500k to 1 million uniques per month? Pls do not mislead all those who are new to internet marketing. You will scare the hell out of them. I am getting no more than 8000UV per day. This means only 240k per month. I do not do affiliate sales and that is why I can talk about adsense. But you may be a guru in affiliate sales and I respect that. But you certainly are a nobody when it comes to adsense.
240k uv for the month? So how much is your actual traffic? With 240k I would guess you get about 500k in regular traffic per month. That's on the low end of what I said: which assumes you are in a very high CPC market. And that's just to hit $280 bucks a day. You need almost double that to hit $400 (like the op who we are talking about.) I'm scaring noobs because it's the truth! You WILL NOT replace a day job, 40+ hours per week 9to5, with just adsense. Not going to happen. If you are hitting 500k in traffic, you won't be making $400 bucks a day with adsense. You'll be making over $1,000 a day between 10 different sources of targeted income and you will care less about measly adsense. Disclosure: I'm not an adsense OR affiliate guru. Hello. You have posted in this thread that one will need 500k to 1 million uv per month before you can make $280/mth. So you are the one who is the BIG bs? You mean you cannot even remember what you have posted? I never mentioned anything about $400/mth with 8000 uv per mth. Also, do not quote John Chow, whoever he is, he is certainly not in my league if he can only manage $500/mth. Unless you are making $10k/mth with adsense, then you can call yourself a half-baked guru because real adsense gurus earn a lot more. But I fathom that you do not even make much out of adsense because in your simple mind, you need 500k to 1million UV to make just $280/day.
