Social bookmarking is not enough to get visitors. One of the best way is to interect with other bloggers and comment on their blogs on daily basis and make them feel that you worth a look. Be a good guest blogger. Post on forums. and many other things you can do to increase traffic.
If you like to add more visitors use social bookmarking like Facebook and Twitter , you can also use yahoo buzz and for getting backlinks what you need to do is a lot of stuff place unique and interesting articles to your site, do social bookmarking, linkbuilding is another way to get backlinks

If you want more traffic try social media sites like facebook and twitter. I think profile link building will not be an effective method. According to my opinion if the site giving you backlink has high PR and lot of backlinks itself, then that site will pass you high value backlink. If the page linking back to you doesn’t have any backlink of its own, then that specific page doesn’t have any link popularity and the link doesn't have any value.
various offpage activities like article, press release, blog and directory submissions could give you good traffic for you site as well as quality backlinks too...

Lol. Forum profile backlinks are almost worthless in the grand scheme of things. You need quality links.
Link building is tedious, but you have to live with it, although it may take you up to years of time.
I don't think social network sites can bring you quick traffic, they all have some limits, and you join doesn't mean friends or followers. If you add too many friends, you get banned right away.
I think forum is a great source of traffic. You will get backlink and traffic both from forum with the valuable participation in the discussions.
