I believe that they can be worked the same. Content is king. You can call it whatever you want, a blog or website. You can have how ever many pages you want. There's no "allowed" or "maximum pages" a blog can have. It's yours.
A blog is easier for your visitors to link to individual articles and therefore has the potential for more traffic. This is not necessarily true of a website unless you specifically give an article its own page..
Thats my point VOnline. That I can put thousands pages on a blog and like mike323 writes, I can have more links from a blog. Why people creating websites then?
Technically speaking, a blog is just a serial stream of posts with no structure. Along came WordPress and took the typical blog to a whole new level and it is more of a CMS to build a website with -- the "blog" is just a subset of a website. Many people now confuse one with the other. There are different types of websites too, of which, the stock WordPress cannot handle effectively on its own such as eCommerce, Forums, SAAS, GroupWare, and the list goes on.
Why not have both? Have the look and feel of a website for your homepage and then add a blog to it. It's really quite simple just by using Wordpress.org. Many of the successful websites on the web are doing exactly this. Search engines love consistent fresh new content and that's why the blog is a good idea to have.
I would have to agree. If you want to be profitable, or even notable for that matter, you need to use all the tools at your disposal. Having just a blog will not do much for you. You need the static content and other amenities too.
Much depends on what is being promoted, products are best promoted through a blog (for the individuality of the post, and how easy it is to link) but a website is more convenient for services.
Both are same, it is up to your preference. You can earn good money with quality site, no matter it is website or blog
Make a blog and incorporate a website in it, like a squeeze to make money . Personally I feel blogs are better than websites since they have fresh content and hence easier to get traffic and hence make money . Websites which are static pages are difficult to rank and get traffic .
