No one can really tell you if they are worthy of listing except the editor that reviews them... anyone else and it's just guessing!

Seriously. Some sites make it in that are worthless to most people, other sites that people find worth in never make it in... most are in the middle someplace.

If your site is established and has unique content, then go on & submit them to the best category. That is simply the BEST you can do. Once that is done, simply forget about it as a review can take YEARS (and years & years).

Alternatively you can simply forget about it now... many editors list sites from any source they can find EXCEPT the unreviewed queue.

The only way you can get listed is if you have connections..

I have seen very good sites submitted and never got approved.

It's more like the luck of the draw. Seems to vary for most.

Ooh another site owner that thinks they have a right to be listed and in their timescale. We have consistently said, if you read, that it can take from a few days to a few years for a review for a possible listing. We have also said that how long it takes depends on someone volunteering their spare time to work that section. Now tell us which section you volunteered your spare time to edit, or why are you whinging when others have not volunteered to edit the section that you want done? And more than whinging just plain saying that editors are corrupt.

I have my sites listed in Dmoz. Its really not worth the amount of effort and the mafia like demands they run under. Its almost like its so special to be listed there that you should bow down and kiss its feet, but when you get in it doesn't really make any difference anyway.

I think it is the PageRank factor for which people are still crazy about dmoz. What you say?

My site was a PR3 before it was listed, and after several years of being listed it's still a PR3. So I say NO, not really.

There are also several sites listed that remain a PR0.

Most of the perks you would get from being listed are negated by the fact the ODP is cloned sooooo many times (remember that duplicate content is not worth all that much, and the ODP is a cesspool for duplicated content). It's also takes forever to update, so the bots don't really care all that much about the site and it's amazing slowness...

Its strange then. By the way, what they do mean by duplicate content? Duplicate content of which? Interesting to hear that they spend lots of times to check every application.

Very hardworking fellows, but without any payments. This may be the reason of late approval or reject.

Better yet, AMRAY Directory is not listed in DMOZ but it doesn't stop Google
to feature it in SERP on page #1 for some keywords such as for example:
best free web directory or if one is prefer best free web directories
or free web directories listing or just free listing

We would rather to have our site on Page#1 in Google than nowhere to be found in DMOZ.

    :)

What are the criteria of AMRAY to get listed? Will it list my sites?

By duplicate content he means, you have 2 identical sites on 2 different domains.

For the same reason your sites will be rejected by AMRAY Editors as well.
