I am open to advice on which is the best shopping cart

I require it to be user friendly
Preferably free as I don’t have much to spend
Good SEO capabilities

Your choices depend also on your technical skills. There are many open source cart apps available, but do you have the knowledge (or resources) to implement it (implementation meaning: determining server resources needed, setting up the server, installing software, etc.)??

 

I absolutely agree. If you are sure that you can make all necessary settings/design adjustments/changes yourself, then choose some shopping cart like X-Cart for example. If you do not want to deal with the technical questions, just choose some hosted cart...

I think that would also depend to you. In general magento is great, robust and the best quality, but quite technical and not good for everyone. If you want, try this shopping cart software site, they have information of many shopping cart with their features and functions. This will give you the chance to compare shopping cart and may give you the idea which software will be the best for you.

 

I think that the Zencard is the best shipping carts for the small business, but using the zeu card if you are a big and large business.

 

Try opencart, The cart with gr8 design and has most of the features required for the shopping cart.

I have been using the open source zencart and feel this program is good, further development is relatively simple

 

I recommend globalwebcart version II. For the price, the best ecommerce features, SEO friendly and very customizable.

 

If you are using WordPress, you could use a shopping cart plugin called osCommerce. It's a popular online shopping tool used by a lot of sites.

 

For open source I love Drupal. You could go with either the Ubercart module or Drupal Commerce if you are using Version 7

 

Joomla and VirtueMart should not be over looked.

 

If you use Joomla, try Click Cart Pro. I have also used oscommerce for years it is the bomb.

 

I'd recommend zen cart. It's quite easy to set up, and easy to maintain the stock.
