What is CPM?

I am running Adsense since june on several websites, but i still don't get CPM.

I know it stands for Cost per million. One adsense ad on my website is generating for example: 6.203 pageviews/day and at "ECPM" i see an amount of 1,42. But what does it actually mean? Do receive that money as well? Really don't get it.

No, it's Cost Per Mille. Per thousand.

ECPM just tells you what yuo would be making if you ahd 1000 impressions, but you only get 6.

No, he DID mean to say Cost Per Mille. Mille is latin for 1000. Know what a Millimetre is? A thousandth of a metre.

 

Ahh my bad, Yeah I know what it means. I just was skimming and skimmed completly wrong.

Roughly, you're right. But Google probably takes more into account.

 

Sort of right with the latin thing.. 'M' is actually the roman Numeral for 1,000 , but did indeed get its originas from Latin Mille

 

I guess you're old enough to actually have spoken the lingo back in the days

 

But the point is I don't receive any money of the CPM. Just from the clicks..

 

You don't know whether a particular ad is CPM or CPC. If you have 6K impressions, no clicks and no money, it's not a CPM ad.
