I have same opinon. Religion will die in coming centuries. Now the people does not like the restriction made by religion. They want to spend life with their own choice. But on the other hand, religion is big thing to collect you unitedly. The importance of religion can't be ignored anyway.

The Bible is packed with Wisdom, History, and Understanding. I don't believe they will ever stop printing that book, regardless with the common relationship people have with God.

Modern Secular Democracies are a far better setting than organized religion however majority rule may not be the freeway either.

Well, here in Sweden there's not much religious people at all. About 80-85% are non-believers.
I would say that most people here who are believers are either old or from another country.
I myself do not believe in a god of any sort either.

    Numbers don't lie :
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Religion_in_Sweden

The one thing that connects atheists and islamist is that both love to exaggerate and lie about their numbers . Atheist to try to prove they exist and islamists to try to prove they're number one .

Just because you don't day that you're an atheist does not mean you do not believe in a god.
"Phil Zuckerman, an Associate Professor of Sociology at Pitzer College writes of several academic sources who have in recent years placed atheism rates in Sweden between 46% and 85%, with one source reporting that only 17% of respondents self-identified as "atheist"."

Get your facts right before calling me a liar. Just because you are a member of the church does not mean you believe in a god. I am an a member of the church because I was automatically written as on when I was born and I have yet not left it because I don't care.

"The Church of Sweden services are sparsely attended (hovering in the single digit percentages of the population).[8] The reason for the large number of inactive members is partly that until 1996, children became members automatically at birth if at least one of their parents was a member. Since 1996, only children that are baptised become members. "

Why don't you move to Sweden and see for yourself. Clearly you do not have any clue of what you're talking about.
It's mostly the older generations or people who have moved here from religious countries that are the most hardcore believers.

"in addition, immigration has meant that there are now some 92,000 Roman Catholics and 100,000 Eastern Orthodox Christians living in Sweden.[10] Due to immigration, Sweden also has a significant Muslim population. As many as 500,000 are Muslims by tradition[11] and between 80,000–400,000 of these are practicing Muslims"

By the way, I got all this information from the verry same page you linked to.
So I suppose you didn't even take time reading it properly.

According to the most recent Eurobarometer Poll 2005
    * 23% of Swedish citizens responded that "they believe there is a god".

And that was in 2005, expect it to be even lower now.

"Sweden is traditionally predominantly Lutheran. As of 2010, about 70% of Swedes remain members of the Lutheran Church of Sweden (Swedish: Svenska kyrkan), compared to over 95% in 1970, and 83% in 2000.[1]

Religiosity in Sweden plays a limited role compared to the European average, with 23% of Swedes expressing atheism or irreligion. Less than 4% of the Church of Sweden membership attends public worship during an average week; about 2% are regular attendees.[2]"

The church wouldn't be stacking the cards here by any chance? when i went to school 83% and 23% (expressing atheism) did not equal 100%. so clearly as 23% HAVE EXPRESSED they are of no religious belief. the 83% figure has to be questioned, given that only 4% attend any church, i am sure the figure is worked out on how many babies are Christened just after birth.

I am sure the figures if reversed, would be a more truer picture of Sweden. Having lived there myself, of cause, i know the Swedish peoples attitude to religion

I doubt religion will ever become "extinct" in any country. That's a pretty strong word

I have to agree, while a given religion may die out the concept of religion is almost ingrained into our very makeup as people. Religion has been around since man could first think about existence and will be around until man is dead.

So the words of an associate professor at a arts college should hold any weight when it comes to geography ? Ok then I as a geographer declare myself and authority in genetics and neurology .

You came up with the bull that Sweden has 85% atheist . So far not a shred of evidence to combat that with 70%+ of the Swedish being church members and ~500.000 Muslims your claim goes once again in the drain . I don't need to call you a liar you're doing that yourself . I can call you a desperate atheist .

In the land of the atheistic troll you take numbers from 2000 and add them with those from 2010 . Then you fail at math and come up with more claims that can't be backed.
