The Power of Viral Marketing is so powerful that there are so many endless possiblities to make money online. Has anyone here used the concept of viral marketing to their advantage? Remember the MillionDollarHomepage? That was the student who made $1m in 6 months - the key here was good PR and viral marketing. This term is being used more and more on the Internet. You can even make a video on Youtube and pass it on, the more people talk about it the more chance that this will help the profile of your product.

I'm not quite understanding the point to this thread. You're basically saying "create sites that generate a lot of traffic, and you'll make money." Don't we already know this?
I think the point is about the marketing of the site and not the site itself. i.e. you can distribute an ebook or a video etc pointing back to your site that people will happily pass on (thereby promoting your site) because it entertains, educates, or amuses them. That's why it's called 'viral marketing'. T

You cant USE Viral Marketing - viral marketing just develops naturally. For example - If I had a funny video clup, and I forwarded it to 100 people, and them 100 people pass it on...the word spreads, people talk about the same video..and the impact becomes VIRAL!

Viral Marketing has the potential to make INTERNET MILLIONAIRES The concept is powerful in the sense that it spreads, and if you have people talking about a topic thats buzz-worthy then the value is that more and more people give you attention and the curiosity factor kicks in.
I totally agree with Special One. Viral Marketing is, in essense, a form of word-of-mouth marketing which we all know is the most powerful and cost effective method of promoting your products and services. With clever planning and execution, VM can hold huge potential. I am working on a project that incorporates the viral marketing component. It's still at the conceptual stage. Will update when ready.
Viral marketing comes in handy for my proxy, instantunblock.com. For instance, I might find I get 2 visits from a certain city or company one day, 20 the next, 100 the next, and 600 the next day until the site is finally blocked by IT admins in the area.
Viral Marketing is just like spreading rumors. Only, online it's basically free distribution of "portable materials" like video clips mentioned above.
