I’m following Articles Directories trend for some time now and more I look the more I come to conclusion that they are now on the rock bottom and hit the lowest level of quality than ever. IMHO Articles Directories reached Dead End. Am I wrong? fastreplies
article directories are still important to seo, even if they will be less effective still it will carry some value. and when something is going down, something else is going up, so i guess we will have to wait and see what will be the next most effective link building method. i think it is and going to be social sites.
yes/no or wrong/correct is meaningless. it's a debate, any point to support your opinion? FR & G4E. i don't own any article directory, but how you can ensure the article is unique and people will not submit to other article directories again. if you can't figure out the problem, it's better to give up.
I would give a typical example of Digg, which is alive and running and YES it does drive you traffic, not just Digg, you can also consider stumbleupon. Is this what you are talking about?
@geek4ever @usrecord Because....??? If you have something to say then say it and provide at least some argument to backup your post with some coherent line of reasoning. Then you have to believe that Google’s algo is too fucking stupid and will allow spammers to manipulate SERP. No, I’m talking about 99.999% of article directories started by people who have as much idea about articles as they have about quantum physics. fastreplies
definitely not a dead end for article directories especially to those directories that don't post dups. i still receive lots of traffic to my article directory even when it has some duplicate contents.. i guess duplicate contents can't be avoided.
Digg and StumbleUpon are not article directories. As a writer I have never liked the concept of article directories. By their nature they promote the use of duplicate content and IMHO they have contributed to so many folks not understanding that they can not use someone else's work if they just link back to the original source. I realize that some believe that AD's have been helpful for link building but I haven't been able to find anyone who can prove that article marketing was anything more than SEO snake oil - lot's of claims and expert e-books for sale, but few facts. I think many are missing the point that the articles on the article directories could be 100% unique and top notch but by design they still promote the use of duplicate content. I truly hope the 'farmer update' has to do with targeting duplicate content as much as it does promoting quality content.
@etc - I think you are right - I agree that dupe content can't be avoided. People can easily take your article directory RSS feed (if any) and use it with autoblogging plugins/scripts by 1000s others. Some even take your content without proper attribution :/ that's how things work on the Web - when you have your content online, it's logically published on a public domain (unless you have your content accessible to members only.) I think, by nature, article directories will need a continuous stream of submitted article and should NOT hope for their old articles to rank at all on search engines due to dupe thingy. So, no, it's not a dead end for article directories, IMO. It's dying, but it's not dead. My 2 cents.
