It Doesn't Get Much Better Than Chelsea vs Barcelona!

So... Couple of hours left till kick-off.

With Barca's mates at Reading whacking both goalies on the head, Chelsea will have a keeper between the woodwork who hasn't seen much action over the last few years. What a night to start! Lucky for him E'to isn't playing but there's plenty of striking power left to worry about. Especially with the defence not looking as impenetrable as they used to. Rumours were they were contemplating getting Bartez out of retirement!

Chelsea will be out to set the record straight though, having been out-played a few times over the last few Champions League campaigns.

Drog the Dog is on fire and Sheva is Europe's all time CL scorer so Barca have enough to worry about themselves. Not to mention the crazy feet of my fellow countryman Arjen 'the Diver' Robben.

I hope Chelski is going to whoop Rijkaard's ass with a sterling effort and some class football (from both sides). European matches don't come much better than this - it could have been the final.

    Predictions please!

    Chelsea: 3
    Barcelona: 2

    Go on the Blues! :D

Hilario is in goal for this one, Chelsea debut for him:) Will be a big occasion for him, but there will be pressure.

Ronnie has warmed up well for this with a brace against Sevilla:)

I have to say that "Drog the Dog" is indeed on fire, but Sheva isn't

OK I'll stick my head out and go for
    Chelsea 1-2 Barcelona:D

    PS--Liverpool are facing Bordeaux.GO Reds:eek:

Yeah, the Reds have some issues of their own though it looks like Kuyt has the potential to turn things around for them (when he's fit). He's a class act.

Shevke scored for Ukraine which will have done him the world of good - like Rooney he'll be coming around sooner rather than later.

    Go Chelsea! :D

Mourinho, Ricardo Carvalho, Paulo Ferreira and now with the portuguese keeper Hilário, for sure they're going to win. :D

    Sure! :D
Before Mourinho and the rest of the portugueses, Chelsea didn't win a premier league in ages! :p

Hilário was a good keeper btw...I don't know how he is now, but about 2 years a go he was very good...Good luck for him and i hope it's a great game. :)

Barca will KILL chelski ..... comon messssiiiii!! :p

I am all relaxed; with a 100% record for United and almost thru to the knockout stage ! :D :D

T0PS30, would it be safe to call sheva a flop in the premiership or too early ? i can't see him scoring a bag full of goals for chelski like he did for Milan (although uefa he cud score, but not in the premiership for me)

P.S - Go windies... lol aussie woes in the champions trophy continues.

I watched Man Utd last night, they look the proverbial bollocks. Going from strength to stregth which can only be good for English Footy.

I don't think Sheva can ever become a flop after the career he's already had. Even if you could, it's still early days. We've had 6 matches! That would make Rooney a flop too. And Henry pretty crap as well. No, it's been an interesting start to the season, pretty confusing at times with all the new players. Shevchenko will come good. It's like riding a bike, you can't ever forget how it works. Despite his goal draught, he's been very useful so it's not like he's just standing there.

Yeah that was one hell of a game, hope to see a similar game between the two teams here too:)

And regarding United, Rudd's departure appears to have done them more good than harm, atleast at this moment.

And Jarodboy, what if Chelsea lose thanks to the portuguese influence:p

I hope its a 4-3 or something, good high scoreline....

@lpoolfan, the thing is pretty simple.... united have always played 4-4-2 , so two strikers upfront was always how united played. SAF got ruud and played the lone striker which never suites united's style of play.

@T0PS3O, true... he's been a legend already so i am not calling him a flop that way... it's just that he's been playing soo deep almost in mid-field and has scored 1 in last 11 or 12 i think. I just can't see him score a bucket full of goals in england.

    lmfaooooo :D :D :D

    EDIT - T0PS3O,btw you which club do u support ? :p

They are winning from it, over the last years so...If they lose i guess it's Terry, Lampard and Drogbas fault! :p :D

    I support good football.

Love Chelsea, really like Man Utd, enjoy Liverpool but have less 'chemistry' with the Gunners. Unless they do their "let's walk the ball into the goal by stringing together 40 short passes" nights.

I love that too:) Treat to watch, but they sometimes over do and even try to pass it around in the box instead of shooting, like in the first few games of this season

Chelsea thoroughly deserved their victory IMO :). A Great performance, they could have increased the margin though. They made Barcelona look second best all throughout the night.

Good result! And like Roo, Sheva had a quality match. Getting there!

Some good fixtures on the weekend too, Man Utd v Liverpool and Chelsea ending Pompey's run :D

Yes, I've been rubbing my hands all day :D (Should get a nice 32" LCD TV delivered before K/O as well - I only hope those pesky Halloween kids piss off)

Chelsea aren't at their strongest with a weakened side so I'm not actually expecting more than a draw. FCB never lost to an English side on Catalan soil and Chealsea never won on Spanish soil altogether apparently so the odds are against us.

Will still be entertaining either way.

    Nice bump, executed to perfection.
