hi I have select a clickbank product with 1.5 gravity and i did some article marketing ( not ezinearticle) with in one week i got 2 sale with 5 hop count. my question is really gravity matter to pick a product to promote
hi emma. lots of people have already asked this question in the forums, but anyhow, here's the answer (to the best of my ability) gravity shows how many affiliates had made a sale in the last 60 days. what matters most to affiliates are conversion rates of a site (which doesn't really correlate with gravity).
You will have a lot information on what gravity is by asking this question so I will only say. Find a product that fits your site and sells. Sounds like you have done that just fine. That being said I know someone that does well looking for good products with low competetion (gravity). Sounds like you found a great niche.. Well done!
Congrats!! Gravity matters when you need faith up to a product quality. The more gravity product have the less chance to refund. In my experience most of the time conversion rate depends on products sales page quality, bonus etc, not the gravity.
First Congrats pal, next to your question gravity is important while your promoting a product but you make most of the profit when you start promoting a product from the launch day.
Congrats! Gravity can be important but dont skip selling a product that fits your traffic an niche just because the gravity is low.
There are products with a high gravity BUT with horrible conversion rates. Some people are lucky to have access to a unique source of traffic (this will inflate gravity) and are successful in making money by promoting these products.
Good post, but would like to add to it and make it more specific: Gravity matters when you need faith if a product is Currently Being Sold or Not (Example: if a product have a gravity of 50, you have proof that 50 affiliates managed to make at least one sale in the past 60 days - so you might have a good chance that you will make at least a sale too if you are good/use the same methods as they are) However, the more the gravity the more competitions (its a double sided sword), and therefore, while gravity might give you "peace of mind" that someone is making money off the product, you also know that higher the gravity the more competitors you are up against. The trick is to find a low gravity product that is "NEW" and have a high quality sales page - this way you will make sales and have less competition than if you were promoting a higher gravity product. In any case, some people prefer high gravity products, other low gravity once, its all a matter of preference - but all the experts know that the big easy money is made when you find a product that is new, have little gravity (therefore less competition) and converts (good sales page). During this period (when the product turns from low gravity to high gravity) generally, one makes the most money bcause of the lack of competition. "The more gravity product have the less chance to refund" - this is not entirely true, gravity and refund rate are totally different and one can find a product with a gravity of 1000 with a refund of only 2% and you can also find another product with a gravity of 1000 with a 40% refund rate. Conclusion: Refund rate cant be calculated with gravity alone. (Note: maybe one could say, if a product have a lot of gravity and therefore many affiliates manage to make sales, the refund rate should be low otherwise they wownt keep promoting - this thinking is also misleading because one could find a product with a high refund rate but converts a lot and therefore affiliates would still keep on promoting becuase its still profitable) Hope my posts helps!
today i got another sale and now I think gravity does't matter, conversion depend on targeted traffic.
it is very easy to fake gravity so i don't go by that much, i look at the products and if i think they look good and i am happy with payout i promote it
Congratulations on your first sales. I am yet to recieve my first sales but I will keep trying, I cannot wait to log into clockbank and actually see some money in there!
Gravity is a tricky one! Let us look at Clickbank's explanation of gravity: "Gravity: Number of distinct affiliates who earned a commission by referring a paying customer to the vendor's products. This is a weighted sum and not an actual total. For each affiliate paid in the last 8 weeks we add an amount between 0.1 and 1.0 to the total. The more recent the last referral, the higher the value added." Read that twice SLOWLY. Gravity is NOT an indicator of how well the product sells! Not really - picture this: I build a product in a niche that I have 20,000 people on my list for. I submit the product to Clickbank and then send a mailing out to my list. The product sells for $49.95 and out of 20,000 I get a 4% conversion rate - so 800 sales at $49.95 = $39,960! What would my gravity be if I did not send anyone through an affiliate link? 0! Look how much the product has made though. Point being is use gravity to see how much interest there is in a product and a guideline only. There are plenty of products I own with a lower gravity that actually out convert my higher gravity ones. Chris
