Maybe a few years ago. Makes almost no difference now. But you should atleast include a good description other then CLICK HERE TO blah blah.

I think good title and description are OK not title link.
some of search engine like google will read title and description beside content. If you have great title and description you'll be good pr.

I use title attributes on all my important links, especially if the anchor is short. For example: <A HREF="info.php" TITLE="Further Information">Info</A>.

I don't know if Search Engines make use of this or not, but there's always a chance that one of them does (or will do). Even if no SEs make use of title attributes, the browser will display them to the user, so its good for that too. When I have images as links, I give the image an ALT and the link a TITLE.

FYI: Internet Explorer (and maybe Firefox too) will display the title attribute on any tag, including H1, B, SPAN, etc.

i think title should be desceptive not like click here, coz there is no meaning to put link there, google loves title which gives some information to viewers.

The three main search engines currently ignore the contents of the title attribute for ranking purposes, so only use it if there are usability or accessibility reasons for doing so.

No don't use it. Just use the plain ahref which has its own title which is called anchor text. Thats all you need.

Does anyone know of any evidence that supports these statements, or can point to any authorative articles to back them up? Or any evidence to the contrary? I was told that title attributes were beneficial for SEO.

Can't say as I have done extensive testing of it or researched it that much but feel free to try google for answers however whenever I have seen it used I have never seen it do anything and as I no the default works well and is accepted that is what I use. I believe adding the title element looks like a keywords meta tag only for the link element and hence would be useless.

I did some searching, and I haven't found anything conclusive either way. I did find the following blog post on the subject, and the comments underneath are quite illuminating - I recommend people read the whole lot before making their own minds:

Link Titles Shmink Titles by htmldog.com (23 May, 2005)
I think that I will continue to use them, as a benefit to the user even if they not do not help my search rankings. I may use them a little less often though, perhaps just for the important links.

I use then for some of my more important links. I use it to add more keyords and particulariliy use it for secondary keyphrases related to the main phrase in my anchor.

I have no idea if it helps SEO wise, but i do try to make the titles desriptive for users when they mouse over a link.

Avoid the "Click Here" phrase, its a link, they know how to click.
