Forum signatures

The forum I used the most has recently disabled all signatures so I lost all of them. Now google webmaster tools only shows one forum that links me. I post on several, why don't they show up on webmaster tools?

I hate forum signatures, were you just spamming other boards with your link in your signature? Thats why I never enable them on my forums, they are spam incarnate.

Sometimes some forums aren't as indexed as others. Give it time, eventually your sig links on other forums will show up in webmaster tools as well.

No. I only post things that are relevant to the topic. I'm a Dog Trainer/Pet Sitter/Dog Walker so I join dog forums and talk about dogs with people.

Forum sigs are good but if the forum admin find the links unrelated to their forum topic then inevitably at some stage you will get your IP address banned :(

I only join dog forums. So if I put my link in a sig in this forum at some point I will be banned?

some forum signature links not appear in google webmaster tools, its natural and normal. How ever when you post on forums, you must give some value to your posts, other wise forum admins or moderators may delete your posts or sometimes can be banned.

I always post relevant stuff. I start threads that require feedback as well. Like "What are your favorite home-made dog treat recipes?" or "What kind of dog bed do you use?" I get tons of responses and I use the information. I wrote a blog on dog beds because it's the #1 search about dogs in google. I have never been banned. I see a lot of other people writing stuff just for the heck of it though.

Generally it happens that when you join the forum they give signature option and after you start participating on it they just don't provide you the signature.

I can see my signature on the posts. What do you mean? It just won't show up on webmaster tools?

If you're relying on forum signatures then you need to rethink your seo strategy

Nobody said I was relying on that for SEO. How did you come to that conclusion?

The signatures in forums are very beneficial to collect backlinks and helps in ranking of the site.

I think forum signature link is good. Some of them even got indexed faster than backlinks from article directory.

If you go to this site : erp system, the most backlinks that have been detected by Yahoo site explorer are coming from forum signature.

It is fair to get enrolled on various forums of different interests and have signatures there. Never depend of any single forum. use everyday some 2-3 different forums for backlinks. It would be fair idea of doing it.

You are right. I am from a web design company and have joined many related forums. But only a few forums are good. sometimes they disable my account or sometimes they remove my signature. I am totally fed up with their activities. I have lots of persons, who have one account on forums. If forum owner tries to ban ip, then i think it is not good.

Yeah. some forums and their signatures are not worth having for SEO and link building purpose.

I only use forum sigs to drive traffic, not for SEO reasons. From experience I have not seen any real SEO impact from forum sigs, so try not to worry about it too much - there are plenty of other ways to get traffic.
