So here's the issue. We have Aoogle Analytics set up for our site. However, one of the 'referring sites' is our own home page. We have checked the default URL and this doesn't appear to be the issue, can anyone give advice please or share experience of similar issues in the past? Thanks in advance, Jonathan
I have the same issue, its annoying but nothing to worry about, I assume everyone has the same issue?
Thanks for the reply, but i don't think so - this distorts the statistics and the overall visitor numbers. Has anyone else encountered this please?
Don't have this sort of issue. Is it the exact domain, or is it with/without the www. or have index.html on the end? Have you definitely got the write analytics code on your homepage? I haven't personally heard of anyone else with these issues (though many other ones, so I guess it's not too much to worry about)
It never used to appear on mine then out of nowhere it appeared one day and now continues to appear each day so the code is obv correct
It's possible to filter them out using FILTERS. Go to your account SETTINGS and find the FILTERS link and see if you can create the filtering you need.
Do you have redirects on your site?. A may appear as a self-referral if there is a redirect. Also, frames may also result in self-referrals. This is because a frame in your site may be used to load another web page. Make sure that all pages of your site have the tracking code. If the tracking code is not installed on all of your web pages, Google Analytics will not be able to track the referral web page and will assume the previous page to be a referral. May be helpful to you.
I have not seen such case yet but if possible can you share screen shot of That, may be by seeing that, someone can suggest you reason or solution. May Be!
