Hi. I want to start a website. The main keywords that 99.9 % people will search in Google is " keyword1 + keyword2 " The domain name keyword1keyword2.com /net/org/ are not available. (They are not active though. Just bought by someone ) But domain, keyword1keyword2.biz is available. I thought that keyword1keyword2.biz may rank better. But i also heard that .biz does not rank as well as .com does. So i have 2 options. 1. buying keyword1keyword2keyword3.com (by adding a little useless keyword.) 2. buying keyword1keyword2.biz Which one do you recommend ? Sorry for Bad English.
Shorter domains are always nicer and it'd be great to have your two main keywords in your domain name, but I've always gone with .com over .biz.
Thanks for answer. You have always gone with .com over .biz because of SEO or just because .Com is more famous ?
I would go for the .biz domain, it is quite good for SEO and I have seen some pretty good results with .biz domains. If you want to buy the .com domain, make sure that the additional keyword isn't too long, or just instead of adding a whole new word, add a letter. It will make your domain more SEO optimized, but as I have said before I would go for the .biz domain. By the way, have you checked if keyword1-keywords2.com /net/org are available? Those are even more SEO optimized.
If I were you, I would do a little bit of research. Take the top 20-30 keywords in the niche you plan to jump in to. Run the keywords through Google. If you see a .biz domain on any of the first page results, you have a chance to rank a .biz name. I'd be surprised if you ran into any .biz domains on the first page. Does that mean that .biz domains can't outrank the big 3 (com, net, & org)? Maybe not... But if nobody has been able to do it yet in your niche, I don't think I would try. Then again, if you have a solid SEO foundation and you are willing to invest some time into building backlinks and authority, you can give it a try. With enough SEO work, you can outrank .com's. You would probably just have to get more links and authority than usual. It would be much easier to take your keyword and add a modifier to the end of it. There are lots of tools out there to help you come up with a domain name. Personally, I like dotomator http://www.dotomator.com/ Code (markup): Put your keyword in the "beginnings" list, then use the drop down menu in the "endings" list, combine the words, and check to see if the domains are available. Sure, on paper, exact match domains always rule over domains with a modifier, but if it's your only option, I say go for the .com with a modifier over the .biz.
Yep. You are right. a short letter would be much better. but many people will confuse. So i will need to say friends "Please do not forget to use hypen " AS far as i understood , main keywords should be at the beginning in domain name. Yes ? And thanks for dotomator.com It already helped me find a nice domain name BIG NOTE : I have just found an interesting thing There are 2 websites that i have just found. keywords.com - pagerank 0. created in 05.2009 keywords.net - pagerank 1. created in 08.2009 But in serp keywords.net is below than keywords.com Does this mean that extension matter ?
For best results, I would say yes to that question. Although, I have used modifiers before the main keyword in the past, and they didn't have any problems ranking. If you want to try using a modifier before the main keyword, make it an action or buyer modifier. For example, let's say I wanted cornholeboards.com, but it was gone. I would also be interested in these domains: -buycornholeboards.com -cheapcornholeboards.com -getcornholeboards.com -buildcornholeboards.com You get the idea... The added bonus to using these types of domains is that people probably search for those exact phrases! -buy cornhole boards -cheap cornhole boards -get cornhole boards -build cornhole boards I know I would use those search terms in google if I were in the market for cornhole boards! Hope that helps!
Thanks I got the idea Anyway. as i told. the website you gave help a lot. i have just added pro to the end. keywordspro.com that is all
domain extension is not important for SEO, but if u can add some other word and buy .com domain, its the best.
I think it should not be important. But i gave solid example in my this post What do you think a reason would be for it ? i think there can be 2 reasons for this. 1. Extension matter. 2. May be webmaster of .com domain has set geotarget from google webmaster tool
If you're planning to generate traffic from Search Engine Marketing by using SEO and SEP to promote your site, then the amount of people who would need to remember to use the hyphen is insignificant. The only time you need to think in terms of "I'll have to tell my friends to not forget the hyphen" is when you're trying to created a branded name that people will be sharing with themselves. The rules for creating a branded name are different than for a name you want to get ranked in the SERPs. For a branded name you want a short, easy to remember name. You don't want any hyphens or extra words or characters that might be forgot. You always want the .com if possible because people might remember the name, but are likely to forget the tld, (the most liekly tld people will type in is .com). You can brand a name with a different tld, but you have to work at it harder to get them to always think of the name with the tld everytime. To create a branded name, you have to use the name online or offline in the way traditional advertising does by using it in logos, large type, and as much as possible to get the name itself to make an impression. The reason I explained that is because for most people doing SEO, those things don't matter. When making the decision on whether you're name needs to be memorable, or whether people will type in the hyphens, or things like that you need to determine how likely it is that anyone will ever actually type your domain name directly into the address bar. For small businesses in a local community that might be the case, because the website will be listed on bus cards, invoices, and other print advertising. The same for websites that plan to become a large presence on the net. Sites like ebay, amazon, etc. planned for that type of branding from the start. For most of the websites internet marketers are creating that is seldom the case. Especially if you're using SEM as your traffic generation strategy. In that case you can choose your domain name based only on what will be best for the SEO of your site. If using hyphens in your domain name will increase your position in the SERP, but might make it harder for people to remember typing it into the address bar correctly then it's kind of a "no-brainer" to decide on which is better. The top listing in the SERP might bring in thousands of visitors a day, people forgetting you're correct name might lose you a few people a month. Do you want to design your site to accommodate getting those thousands or search engine generated visitors? Or for those few people who might type your domain name directly into the address bar. There's times when you do want to build a website based on a brandable name (I actually do it for many websites I start and truly you can do good SEM to rank ANY website). If all you want though is a website that people using the search engines will find then you don't need to worry about the factors needed for branding. In that case you can use hyphens, add additional keywords, add filler words or anything else necessary to have a domain name best suited for SEO. Another thing to remember is that a keyword domain name can be good for SEO, but it isn't actually the huge factor everyone treats it as. If you do a poor job at the other SEO and SEP factors then the keyword domain won't help, and if you do a good job at the all the other factors then a keyword domain won't even be necessary. Keywords in the domain name can help, but that's just a single factor in you're overall SEO. Try to pick a good one, but you don't have to stress over getting the exact perfect one every time.
Thanks for this long post. Anyway. i enjoyed it Off-Topic Question. I have a domain . short.zz If i use it as url shortener. and have a forum in short.zz/forum/ Would i get higher page rank ?
Always get a .COM domain, and always try for 2 keywords. Obviously this is a problem here. You can try brainstorming some more names and see if that gets you anywhere. I'm sure there are more keywords you can target.
To be quite honest, .COM or .BIZ has nothing to do with SEO. Its just that .COM is more common among people hence they recommend it. *Apologies for double post*
Well. My domain is should be Loseweight.com (loseweight is in my language) which is unavailable. When i use google Keyword tool , i see that 99.9 % of people uses " lose + weight " That is the reason why i want to find good domain name. I already found it. I will add +pro to its end loseweightpro.com NOT: it is in my own language
Doesn't matter with extension, if your domain contains the keyword in it then don't look for extension
Moreover you may add some prefix or suffix according to your domain, like if you want to sell something or its a guide then you may put "e" or "i" or "online" etc. .com is much better as all people have tendency of ctrl+enter moreover its better to remember also and therefore in my opinion you must go for .com rather than .biz.
All that means is that keyword.com is ranking better for that exact keyword. There's a lot of more likely reasons than the tld that will cause that. The SEO may be better on the actual page (better use of tags, better keyword density, etc.) The SEP might be better for that particular keyword (more backlinks with that anchor, backlinks with that anchor on more relevant pages, etc.) Since the PR of the .net is higher than the .com then I would imagine the SEO and SEP was done for many other keywords besides just the one in the name. If you did a search for related keywords you will probably find the two domains swapping places between which one is higher in the SERP on each search. Actually the .net will probably turn up for many more of those related keywords when the .com doesn't, while the reverse probably won't happen as much. Remember the most successful websites aren't optimized for just a single keyword, the most successful sites will be found in search for many other relevant keywords as well.
