Using "myspace" in domainname, still a danger?

    Hello

I am wondering if there still is a danger in using myspace in the domainname for a myspace related webpage?

I know about them sending out C&D letters a while ago but what actually happend with that, did they give up? Are people still getting those letters?

Is there any difference for people living outside USA?

IANAL, but I think it is just a matter of time before a popular site with myspace in its title will get shutdown.

All names with trademarks in them carry a risk of danger of being shut down...

You just never know when these companies decide to take action.

Maybe they're not sending the letter for the moment, but that doesn't mean they can start again at any time.

Depending on the country, some of them may be more thorough than others when it comes to defending trademarks. Sweden certainly is, and China is getting there, at least they want to give the impression that they're fighting piracy.

Once it gets big they will take you down,

If its some small site you probly have a chance at staying around.

All the big ones get sued by myspace, myspace is getting more and more money all the time its only a matter of months before all big-medium myspace MSRS named domain get destroyed.

A few big ones have already been wiped out.

I think it would be best to keep the "myspace" out of it.

Because trademark holders (especially the smart ones) must examine any and
all facts and details they're able to gather, then weigh them carefully to make
    an informed decision.

What you guys ought to remember is that trademark is essentially advertising.
So a trademark holder ought to consider if it's going to help them or hurt them
should they pursue someone who's potentially infringing their rights.

    It's case to case.

if its a old domain its alrite , coz at the time when myspace dint exist and domain would have been crreated, other thing is if the domain doesnt harm myspace identity then they wont send u any letters i guess.
but for a safer side new domains dont purchase with myspace keywords.

Dont think there are that many domains with myspace in the name that were registered before myspace.com :)

Will see if i start to develop my sites with myspace in the name or not... Have registered the names atleast as a first step...

It is currently pointing to http://www.towercodes.com/ so did they really turn over the domain to myspace or just move the site to towercodes.com instead and point the domain to that place as they got scared?

if you search for myspace related sites (profile, whoretrain, music) over 50% of them have the word "myspace" on them . . .

I hope they dont crack down too hard. . . I have over 10 parked domains with the word myspace in it and I'm getting a huge amount of type in traffic .. . just the other day myspaceforums.com was sold for 10K+ on snapnames . . (I was in it up until $100 ;)

BTW, you guys think I should hold the domain and stay low making money on parking or develop the site and take a chance?
