I am very interested in starting a copy writing business. I know that it used to be a well paid career, but have heard that the golden days are long gone now. Is this true? Regards, hkwil
Okay, the first step is easy- Just Start! Start by exploring more about copywriting. Start by reading and writing more in general , just to get more proficient. Start by learning from the masters. Read blogs written by good copywriters. One thing that;ll greatly hinder your progress is the attitude you have shown above- "...have heard that the golden days are long gone now." Good copywriters are earning their wages handsomely, have done so in past and will continue to do so. So if you want to write- just start! Hersh
Gold is everywhere, but only few people figure out where it exactly is. Decide your career, indifferently from the trend in the market. Try to focus and find your niche. Forget about what the losers/big winners say and find your own path. It's important to remind: you are the one that decide how much your income will be.
Mailings have gone down a lot. Advertising has gone down a lot. More and more businesses are not paying royalties anymore... But that is not to say "the golden days are long gone now." There are still businesses out there that still pay quite well. One has to work harder to find them, though.
I find the trick to a copywriting career depends on: -- How well you've studied and learned to write better, and -- Who you go after as potential clients. Small businesses pay better than most Internet marketers. Large corporations & ad agencies pay better than small businesses. You have to be good enough for them to choose you, though. And be willing to work on their terms and really cater to their needs.
If you are good enough, your golden days cant be over. Search for right sites. If you can't, just send me a msg.
The golden days are long gone? Try telling that to all those go-getters who seem to be living the golden days right now. There is always money to be made, but you can't tap the same gold mines forever.
write an ad that sells your services as a copywriter, be your first client, when your ad brings you a 2nd client you are a copywriter for better or worse, write all your clients better ads for better paydays all around, your bank account grows or shrinks with your writing
Collect the content of your interest by reading the content in internet. You can read ezine articles.
Continually check online job listings. Copywriting jobs tend to appear and disappear quickly, so check often.
Every thing go right when we are right so if you are interested then go a head. You make your self the golden days. Get material from best writers about copy write.
Depending on where you are located there are always business coaches and internet marketers looking for copywriters. 1.) write EVERYDAY. 2.) write out by hand some of the best sales letters out there - it helps to embed it into your own head. 3.) strick up conversations/deals with local website site designers, marketing coaches etc. They can onsell your services and perhaps even do a couple of Barters initially till you get your reputation up and experience. 4.) always be prepared to invest in your education. my first 5 paychecks all went to more learning materials so i could expand my understanding of whats needed, what works and what not to do! 5.) Have a go! - Ultimately writing (sales copy or content) is a brilliant skill you can always utilize in your life in many aspects. Good luck
