The content has to be worth while. I would say it is pretty hard for marketing videos to go viral because they are not something people tell their friends, "Check that video out". I once got 20,000 hits in a week on one of my videos but it had nothing to do with what I was selling (video about Video game leaks. CPA connected to the description). It helped me make some money through CPA though because of how I connected the video with what I was selling... Make sense? I might post a more in-depth thing once I have more time.
Well whenever I make a video I think to myself, "would I send this to my friends?"... it has to be so amazing that your friends, your friends friends, and your friends friends friends would want to see it. Viral marketing is all about word of mouth and people sending your content around the globe and wanting to talk about it.

I think like everything ...it has to be useful for people... but in generally viral videos can start out of nothing...just make a video that can be funny to some doesnt mean it will be funny to 1.000.000 viewers. But i think the word to use is "amazing" ...if your video is amazing and people are talking about it...negatively or not...they will share it with people..
Viral marketing is a concept very used nowadays for marketing enterprise but as someone told before is all about a word mouth and we cannot push the viewers to share it, it has to be good enough by itself, then we can encourage the people to share it with their friends
These tend to viral: 1) Funny 2) Unusual (e.g. hey look at that, we've never seen it before) 3) Taboo (e.g. sex sells). 4) Secret (E.g. Gmail viralled largely because it used to be invite only). 5) Remarkable (hey, this is so cool). There's more of course.
