Hello guys, I just received an email from one of my friend saying that Facebook is going to remove the FBML from 11th March 2011. Is this true? In that case what will happen to the pages that are created on FBML?? And what exactly is iFrame?? Same as FBML? Can we use it just like any other application to customize pages? I could find that websites like http://www.facebookmaxed.com seems to be offering iframe tutorials and templates but anybody has got a clear idea on iframes? Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.
fbml gonna get deprecated soon. however i would say they probably would continue support it for a while until people catch up with the new stuffs.
I was about to get into designing a Facebook page for a client when a colleague told me that Facebook is getting rid of FBML tomorrow. I've never done a Facebook page and since FBML is becoming invalid, I figured I'd do a bit more research on the matter before I start the design.
Yeah, that'd be great. After all, as you're just starting - you can start with iframes from the very beginning..
Try to read this article - http://www.allfacebook.com/everything-you-need-to-know-about-the-death-of-fbml-2011-03 for more information about FBML
isn't Iframe like a mini snap shot of a website, it's a bit like an overlay. not sure how it works with facebook but I would imagine it's kind of like putting an overlay over facebooks template. A mini site within a site.
I guess this is how you know you have gotten old. IFrames were one of the most common ways of including multiple pages in a website back in the heyday. You could call any other website and include it in a frame of sorts. Of course this was before php include and what not... Will be interesting to see what facebook does.
Yes, you're very right. Now the pages can be highly customizable - easy to use and greatly monetizable. Any type of business/marketing page can be created just like an actual web page. It is really so awesome!
Yeah, now you've to create different pages and then host it in your servers. You better use the application I've showed in the first post. A few templates are there it seems. You can copy paste it.
Yeah facebook will piss off all of us who spent hours developing in FBML, but I think iframes could be beneficial as well. It all depends on what they let us do.
Since the OP had you go to his site, where again you have to use his affiliate site url to get to the stuff he is actually talking about, Here is the real full non-affiliated url: http://fbmaxed.com/
Hi, nope - its not my website. I din't know that it was an associated website to fbmaxed either. Thanks.
Yeah. But facebook developers confirm that no new features will be added on FBML as they have started the feature iFrame to customize and develop facebook pages.!!
i still can found FBML in my facebook application and i saw quite many of fans page using iframe as well. Do not worry about it , because facebook become more and more business tool and even have ecommerce cart in facebook right now. I think facebook for sure will help us to improve our fans page.
I am working on a FBML to iFrame conversion site, I know how to change everything over. Keep an eye out.
Thank you for your link, appreciated BTW, I think by now all the old fan pages which had FBML page already, can still use the option. So Facebook has not yet completely disabled the option. I am lucky than all my fan pages had some cool attractive FBML pages, which were done by myself
