Hi, Paypal is going to shut its operation in India soon till they get their matter resolved with RBI. It may take 2 months or even two years Now, I am bit skeptical about 2checkout, and other tools, as I don't have any website. With paypal, I could receive and send payment by just creating my account. Please help, if there is any similar tool to receive/send payment to/from India. Regards,
I advice you to stick with PayPal, nothing happened as of mar 1st, 2011 and as per the rumors they are currently in talks with R.B.I Don't be in a hurry, you are not the only one (PayPal got a few million users in India)
moving from paypal will be a big loss because many services only support payapl transactions. stick to payapl
Stop spreading such rumors please. PayPal isn't going to shut down for Indian users. If you don't want to use it then that's ok but at least do not spread rumors. You can use LibertyReserve, AlertPay and Moneybookers as alternative payment system.
Its all on Hope. Lets wait until Paypal make a final announcement via email and in worst case we need to look for money bookers or alert pay.
I'm expecting a lot more Indians to start using Moneybookers. We are planning to make this an option in the phpLD checkout process soon as a result of the changes.
There is a big controversy over this issue. I have no bad issue with PayPal. It works for me fine. But I don't understand why PayPal.com needs to follow RBI guidelines while they don't have anything to do with RBI like other Payment processors? Following RBI guidelines means you are operating as a Bank in India. Try Moneybookers. My friend uses Moneybookers and having no issue. This is not a problem for you only, but for all. PayPal is doing really some misterious. Anybody can show(even PayPal too) where RBI set those rules? It is PayPal only who is imposing the rules.
DO NO RELY on moneybookers, you know what happend with me? it was 2009, when i withdrew like $10 from moneybookers in my bank, and then few months back in 2010, i got a call from my ICICI bank, which was enquirying about that $10 payment i received in my bank, they said i was NOT allowed to receive such payments, and i can also face legal actions, they closed my bank a/c and asked me to open a new bank a/c, i had to do so to avoid any trouble knocking my door. they then showed my few list of people who had encashed lacs of rupees form moneybookers to their icici bank, and even my transaction didnt went above $30-40 in moneybookers ever, though i had my name in suspicious person list, just because i used moneybookers to withdraw from it to my bank a/c...
Man, this problem was not with Moneybookers. The problem was with ICICI bank, which is famous for doing fraudulent business practices against their own customers. If you had such problem with your ICICI bank account, then beware of ICICI. You are not allowed to recieve any payment via Wire Transfer. 1] Moneybookers transfers the funds via Wire Transfer. That is why they asks for SWIFT code of your Bank. There is no middle party between MoneyBookers and Your Bank account. 2] PayPal transfers your funds to PayPal Pvt Ltd(India). Then PayPal Pvt Ltd(India) transfers the money to your account through NEFT. There is PayPal Pvt Ltd(India) as the middle party between PayPal.com and your Bank account. Hope you are clear now.
Hi Khemraj & all, AlertPay is a Payment Processor that offers services very similar to those of PP & co. We deal with many clients in and around India and offer a wide range of payment sending and receiving options. AlertPay offers 3 different accounts for our different types of clients. Sending money is always free and receiving money is free with our Personal Starter account! (400$/month 2000$/lifetime). If you want to receive larger amounts, or payments by credit card then either our Personal Pro or Business account may be better for you! Hope this helps Chris Z.
I dont think this will ever happen, as India is equally or more bigger market for paypal than China. I am sure Paypal will resolve the issues with the authorities. If its not possible, then I would say, find some friend who has a paypal account outside of India and also has an Indian bank account. So you can transfer the money in his/her bank account and your friend can make the payment through paypal
As far as I know, moneybooker is still in the practice. You can opt for wire transfer in most cases thought it's a bit expensive for smaller transactions. Rest of the options are going to go paypal way as far as I can see.
