Some say maya, some say 3d max, belender, cinema 4d ............i heard enough on these stupid forums so in theory this is the best forum and it has experts....SO I"M HERE AND I ASK YOU what is the best 3d software ever? REGARDLESS OF THE PRICE, just don't care about the money, we are going to talk about technical things, how easy is the software to use, how professional is it, how many tutorials does it have, can you create complete games with it? can you use the models on other game engines such as unity, what makes it the best ever... and I forgot to say that the most important thing in my mind is to create 3d games....I already have blender but I like to know about the others...
This is the wrong place to ask but I am a quasi-expert. I owned Maya and worked with the company when it was Alias but I haven't touched it in years. At least then, Maya would be the hands-down winner; particularly if you were doing film and video. Not to say 3dsmax wasn't good but, iirc, was better for architects who needed 3d and motion in their work. I don't recall much about cinema4d. Blender was and still is an excellent tool and, for free, you can't get better. If you've never been involved with this on the professional level, it's a long learning curve, but it's probably the most flexible with its own programming language. As professional as you make them. All of them have more than you can handle. As far as modeling goes, yes. It's not a game programming environment, though.
I don't know on which section on the forum I should post it, I had 2 sections in mind, this one and the programming one, the section is more about design, so i tried and i was lucky
Totally agree- But bottom line is what exactly you need to do- If you are only doing text- there are programs for that. If you need to render complex graphics- 3dSM is the "easiest"- (totally dependent upon savvy of each user)
If you are looking to produce 3d games, then 3ds Max or Maya is your best bet. Both are stellar 3d modeling and rendering packages. I don't need so much in the way of complex modeling and animation though, so FormZ is my choice. Simple and powerful!
I just wanna know one thing....3d max and maya are both created by the same company autodesk and they both do the same job,(as far as I know) and everyone is arguing which is better....now if i had to choose I would pick maya because I use unity 3d game engine and they recommend, but what is the main difference between them? I had used only one software created by autodesk which is autocad because my cousin is an engineer and I helped him creating some projects but i don't know the philosophy of the company, since many of you argues which is the best may or 3d max, i have to ask, why did autodesk create 2 similar software? we have to remember that they cost a lot of money so what is the point of creating 2 similar software?
and they have mudbox also so they have 3 software that are basically the same. I'm a VFX Artist and post production engineer who works on big boy projects. I will explain: Maya - Is an industry standard software which is super robust, it can do just about everything, but not always so easily. Maya has a close to 5 year learning curve because its so complex. You won't find a single maya training video, you will be learning for a long time. Cinema 4D - Is my personal favorite because its great for 3D motion graphics. C4D, works with programs like Adobe After effects to make cool ESPN like motion graphics and it can do most of what Maya can do. The other thing I love about C4D is its easy to learn and has a very intuitive interface for the most part...some area head scratchers but for its basic functions its pretty simple. Another thing I love the program and the plugin extentions are 100% python scripting, which means C4D has a lot of open possibilites and you can make your job easy if you know that programming language. 3DS Max - is another industry standard 3D package which I hear is easy to use. I run a Mac workstation so I don't have 3DS Max ( PC only) but I use .3ds files because they are so widely used. And this software has the most tutorials. Blender - Blender is a free open source program which is VERY powerful for that price. It's also very fast. Because its slimmer if you need something simple. Blender can do it in a fraction of the time of Maya. Lightwave - Lightwave 3D is another industry standard app that is widely used. Its pretty simple to use. This is the software the lion share of the Avatar movie was done with. Lightwave is actually 3 applications that come together like voltron to create the app lightwave. It comes with the modeling app, the layout app and the hub app. So the workflow is a bit different here. Modo - Modo is the artist 3D app of choice. Its a combination of 3D modeling and 3D sculpting. So basically its like Maya and Mudbox together. Its ultra intuitive and functions almost like a kids program, yet its a professional app which I love. Anything I need to model, I use Modo because it just that easy. It doesn't matter what program you use to import your assets into Unity by the way Unity 3D supports: Maya Cinema 4D 3ds Max Cheetah3D Modo Lightwave Blender Unity can read .FBX, .dae, .3DS, .dxf and .obj files For your information Autodesk Mudbox isn't like maya or 3DS. Mudbox is a competitive answer to the industry standard sculpting tool called Zbrush. Also, the reason Autodesk has similar programs is because all of those companies work independently. I have to say blender. I'm using it right now on a project and couldn't be more impressed. It's totally free and you can do anything you could ever want to do with it. However, it's not a program that you can just install and immediately start using. In my experience 3D max is the best service.i don't know more about maya,i have only experience with 3D max,it is created by the host group.i am more interesting to do 3d max,it is simple to use.
The software is just a tool, it is you who have to create quality work. Character modeling right now is mostly done like this: basic model in 3dmax or Maya than zbrush for high poly. All the programs that have been posted here have huge potential. When you learn one all the other become easy. The main difference between them is their interference, the tools work in similar way. So if you want to get into char modeling, search for cgtalk they got tutorials and will help you out. I for example am interested in industrial design and have been using maya and 3d max at first. My friend told me about rhino and solidworks. I never looked back.
I've tried a variety of different products, but I have decided to stick with “Mayaâ€. Furthermore, “LightWave†is also a good one, I used it before which is completely amazing.
