Is there a way to trace the traffic from the site that we host? I am currently using Google Analytics but the result not really to what I am expected, just wonder is there any free software can help me on this? Please advise. Thanks
Google Analytics is definitely your best bet - it shows you the sources. What kind of information are you looking for?
What exactly are you looking for? Google analytics won't show you visitor's ip addresses but it will tell you what city, browser, operating system, screen resolution, service provider and tons more information about your visitors...
Nah for that case Google analytics is what you should stick with. Also if you want to keep track of your results and what keywords are converting and which ones are not then try looking into investing on an adtracker. Or you also can use use Tracking202.
I would say Google Analytics would be your best option. But if you are having problems with GA then try something like Statcounter.
Your web server's raw log files will reveal just about any information you need. Run your own log analysis program like Analog or Webalizer.
You can also use Awstats which comes on your server(sometimes for cpanel), but Google analytics is the best.
1. Take advantage of free analytics services. Create a free account using a major search engine analytics tool, such as those listed in the resources section below. Have your administrator privileges and website login credentials ready, to verify the account ownership. Insert any codes given by your analytics account to your website code, to begin tracking sources. 2. 2 Use the administrator data provided by your website, blog or web design agency. Most websites are designed with source tracking, even if it's basic. Monitor and learn to use this data to track users, by becoming familiar with the features of your website. 3. 3 Track the IP addresses of each direct hit. Work around a confusing or complicated analytics system, by directly researching each visit to your website. Use a third party IP tracking tool to manually identify a user. Keep this method in mind, if you are trying to track competitor visits to your site, eliminate your own company members visits from your data, or are working with small numbers of visitor data.
